【題目】Emojis(表情符號(hào))
Have you found that more and more people are using emojis to communicate online? For example. "Happy Birthday" has become a cake with lit candles. And "I’m happy" has become a smiling face.
Emojis have been warmly welcomed since they were invented in the 1990s in Japan. According to a survey of a mobile technology company, 6 billion emojis are used in text messages around the world every day. Last year,20 percent of all emojis used in the UK and 17 percent of those used in the US was the icon.It became the most widely-used icon in 2015.
Emojis are now used as % new fo~ of expression", and one which can cross language barriers(障礙). "'Emojis are popular among millennials, who were born between late 1980s and early 2000s, because they welcome new technology and new things and they think emojis are ' flexible(靈活的 ) and show meanings beautifully'", president of Oxford Dictionaries told The Wall Street Joural.
Since millennials became the biggest part in the American workforce(勞動(dòng) ), emojis have been more accepted in the workplace. For many people, the tiny pictures also show that the users are part of mainstream(主流) society. In the digital age, emojis are "how most people communicate and show their personality many times every day. "
But not everyone thinks the use of emojis is a good thing. Jonathan Jones of The Guardian said that the success of emojis is "a step back for humans", hurting people's ability to use languages.
"There are strict limits on what you can say with pictures--the written word is necessary to express your ideas and feelings to their highest level," he said.

【題目】
Mr. and Mrs. March lived together with their four daughters. Amy was very shy. Beth loved being at home. Meg looked very pretty. Jo was tall and thin and she was a tomboy.. Their home was always busy and full of noise and people. Next to them lived old Mr. Laurence and his grandson, Laurie. They lived in a very large and comfortable house. But it was a house without life.
One day, Joe saw Laurie standing at an upstairs window in his house and looking down at their garden. Jo’s sisters were playing in the snow there. They were throwing snowballs and having a lot of fun. But Laurie’s face was very sad.
“Poor boy!” Jo thought. “He’s all alone. He needs some friends.” She couldn’t stop thinking about him. She wanted to go and see him, but how could she go to the house without an invitation?
Then one snowy afternoon, she saw Laurie’s grandpa go out. This gave her an idea. She took a broom from the kitchen.
“What are you going to do, Jo?” asked her sister Meg.
“To clear the garden path.” Answered Jo.
When Laurie saw Jo from the window, a big smile changed his pale, sad face.
Jo laughed and shouted, ”How are you? Are you ill?”
Laurie opened the window and said,” I’m better now, thank you. I had a bad cold and had to stay inside for a week”.
“I’m sorry,” said Jo. “Are you bored?”
“Yes, very.” he replied.
“Don’t your friends come to visit you?”
“No. But I don’t want to see anybody. Boys are noisy and they give me a headache.”
“Girls are quiet.”
“I don’t know any girls.”
“You know us.”
“That’s true! Can you come and visit me?” cried Laurie.
“ I’m not quiet, but I’d like to come,” replied Jo. “I must ask Mother first.” She ran back into her house.
A few minutes later, she returned and rang the bell on the door of laurie’s house. A servane took her upstairs.
“Here I am!” she said brightly. “Mother sends her love and my sisters gave me this blancmange (牛奶凍) for you.”
“That looks delicious,” Laurie said. He was very happy to see Jo.
Jo looked around. There were lots of books on the shelves.
“A nice room!” she said. “I can read to you if you like.”
“No, let’s talk,” replied Laurie.
“All right,” said Jo, “I can talk for hours. My sisters say I never know when to stop.”
“You have three sisters-Amy, Beth and Meg.” Laurie continued.
“How do you know this?” Jo was surprised.
“You call each other’s names when you are in the garden. Sometimes I can see you all around the table with your mother. She has a very kind face. I like looking at her. I haven’t got a mother.”
Jo felt sad when she heard this.
“Why don’t you come and visit us?” she said, “It isn’t good for you to stay in this house all the time.”
“Thank you. I’d like to come very much.” Said Laurie.
“We know all our neighbours except you.” Jo said, “ I’m glad we’re friends now.”
She told him about all the interesting things in her life. She said,” Besides(除了……之外) plays, I also love books.” Laurie loved books too, and offered to show her the library in the house. The library was a wonderful room. Jo loved it.
“Wow!” she said, “All those books!”

【題目】All About Astronauts
Part 1. Special Mission
Astronauts travel into space. The astronauts work in teams to do missions in space. One team of U.S. astronauts had a very special mission to fly from Earth to the moon in July of 1969. People all over the world watched on TV as this team arrived at the moon. The astronaut Neil Armstrong, the captain of the team, became the first person to walk on the moon. After that, other astronauts went on missions to the moon. They collected samples of moon rocks and moon dirt, and they brought them back to Earth.
Part 2. Astronauts' Training
It takes lot of study and hard work to become a real astronaut. Astronauts take special training to learn more about space flight. They also learn about rockets, stars, and planets. They learn about their missions, too. Before their mission, Neil Armstrong and his team studied the moon and the rocks they might find. Some of them are pilots. They need to know how to fly a spacecraft. They use special models to practice flying the spacecraft. They also learn how to wear a space suit. It's usually big and heavy. An astronaut learns how to move in the suit by going into a pool. Moving around underwater feels like moving around in space.
Part 3. __________________
On the moon and out in space, there is little or no gravity(重力). When the spacecraft flies into space, the things inside float(漂。around. Astronauts eat food from special packages. The packages are tied to a tray, so the food doesn't fly away. When astronauts want to sleep or exercise, they wear a special strap which can hold them in place.
Sometimes astronauts need to do work outside the spacecraft. Temperatures in space can be very hot or very cold. That's why they must put on their space suits. Furthermore, there is no air in space, the suit can help an astronaut breathe.
