【題目】Life doesn’t always turn out the way we’d like. When situations take an unfavorable turn, we become upset, frustrated, or angry. When others don’t agree with us, or act in a manner we find disturbing, anger is a typical response. With the exception of a few extreme circumstances an angry reaction rarely improves the situation or helps us change our mind. Thoughtful consideration of what feelings and reaction are most helpful actually restores our real power, so consider the following alternatives to anger.

Compassion, consisting of both understanding and empathy, can be a perfect solution to anger. Each person has a right to live life according to their beliefs, dreams, needs, etc. If someone is acting improperly or not living up to our ideals, we need to remove the “shoulds” and remind ourselves that it is a necessary part of their life’s journey. Choosing this alternative response softens one’s heart and prevents anger from arising.

Humor is another powerful tool for lessening anger. We take life and personal offense far too seriously. After all, their behavior is a reflection of their internal environment and has nothing at all to do with us and it is in reality relatively unimportant. Humor puts any serious situation into its proper places. It acts as a protective barrier to emotional pain as we recognize that what is happening has nothing at all to do with us.

So when others behave badly, forgive them for their bad behaviors rather than judge them in your heart. When life hands us the exact opposite of what we requested, make light of it, After all, this life is only temporary so why get so bent out of shape when it isn’t in line with your ideals? Rain on your wedding day? Break oat the umbrellas and boots and dance in the puddles!

1What can we infer from the first paragraph?

A. Anger makes a person more powerful.

B. All the people get annoyed easily.

C. Anger often does no good to the situation.

D. Anger can do something good in most cases.

2How should we respond to others’ misbehavior according to the second paragraph?

A. Criticize it sharply. B. Complain about it.

C. Leave it as it is. D. Understand and accept it.

3What does the underlined phrase mean in the last paragraph?

A. Dull. B. Angry.

C. Delighted. D. Gifted.

4What’s the best title of the passage?

A. Alternative Responses to Anger.

B. The Bad Effects of Anger.

C. The Causes of Frequent Anger.

D. The Risk of Getting Angry.

The natural environment there was very pleased, and we could breathe fresh air. The intelligent glass greenhouse, where many kinds of fruits and vegetables were growing there, was really amazing. 【題目】Even if you don’t have to work, eat or sleep, you won’t be able to get through all infermation on blogs and social networks. The problem we face is that much of this information seems very interesting at first glance. Actually, much of the information is unimportant, disposable and it distracts(分心)us from more meaningful pursuits. Worse still, when we spend lots of time consuming information from our social media streams, we may find it hard to concentrate on what we’re doing and we have a tendency to forget what we have consumed anyway.

A new study from Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology has found that too much social media exposure actually reduces your ability to process information and depletes your short-term working memory.

Our working memory plays a critical role in our capacity to filter information and remember what is valuable but it is not a limitless resource. Erik Fransén, a professor in Computer Science at KTH and the leader of this new study on social media overload says this can explain why our capacity for processing information begins to fail when we attempt to stuff more information in the working memory.

In fact, when you try to process the information like speech or video, you are going to need partly the same system of working memory, so you are reducing your own working memory capacity. And when you try to store many things in your working in your working memory, you get less good at processing information.

It is the periods of downtime of your brain—preferably disconnected from the distractions of your computer or smartphone—that are needed for memory consolidation and transferring important information to your exposure to new information. Besides, you can empty your mind of thoughts quickly to relax completely, go for a short walk or spend s few minutes listening to music.
