【題目】A company has designed a water bottle, the Memobottle, which is ideal for the office worker’s bag, because it’s completely flat. With the same shape as a piece of paper, the Memobottle is a reusable water bottle that slides into your bag to lie next to books and laptops. The bottle, which can also be washed in a dishwasher, is designed to help reduce the number of plastic bottles in landfills(填埋).

Two creative people Jesse Leeworthy and Jonathan Byrt, both 28,designed the bottle to be convenient to carry and environmentally friendly. It is made from a durable and dishwasher-friendly“green” plastic.

Leeworthy and Byrt, from Australia, say more than 600 billion single-use bottles were sold globally last year. In America alone, studies show that around 1,500 single-use water bottle are consumed every second—only 20 percent of these are recycled. And the cost of buying more and more plastic bottles adds to— the pair say that bottled water costs approximately 1,400 times more than tap water.

“We’ve always been passionate about the environment,” said Leeworthy.“For years we have been focused on creative design that provides environmental remedy while improving social convenience. The Memobottle was designed to overcome two problems that we see in our society: our attachment to the outdoors, and our inability to fit water bottles in laptop bags.”

The bottle will be available in three different sizes— A5 which holds 750 ml,A4 which holds 1.25 litres and letter size which stores 1.25 litres. The product is seeking funding on Kickstarter and has already soared(飆升)past its primary goal of raising 8,310 ($13,500),reaching it in just 36 hours. Jonathan Byrt said, “The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive! The emails of support and interest, and social media comments have been amazing!”

The product is expected to be on the market by Christmas and will be available for global delivery.

【題目】Directions: Read the following passage. Fill in each blank with a proper sentence given in the box. Each sentence can be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need.

Are you still disappointed at your failure? Stop sighing, and change your mental model.

Change your view on “success” and” failure”.

Most people have the following mental model: SUCCESS—YOU—FAILURE. 1but what if you change that model? YOU—FAILURE—SUCCESS. Instead of for viewing failure as something to be avoided, turn it into a “steppingstone” on the path to success

Increase your failure rate.

If it is true that the more we fail ,the more we succeed then your immediate goal should be to intentionally increase your failure rate! 2Intentionally increasing failure means the more people tell you “no”, the closer you will get to ultimate success.

Set “No” goals.

3But how about setting goals for failure? The exciting aspect is how it keeps people “in the game ”when they are “red hot”. If all you have is “yes” goals and then you slow down or quit when you are successful, the hot steak end .But if you keep going when you get the “yeses” of life, the sky is the limit

4

If the key to success is to increase our failures, then it makes sense to celebrate our setbacks. Yes, you heard right: if someone turns you down, celebrate it! Instead of mentally punishing yourself for not succeeding, buy yourself ice cream and say ,”I am one step closer to success ! ”Stop letting failure have a negative impact on your thoughts and emotions.

A.See courage as a muscle

B.Celebrate your failures.

C.Everyone sets success goals

D.With this thought in mind, you are succeeding even when you fail

E.All the courage you need to achieve success is already in you ,just waiting for you to take action

F.They see themselves in the middle, and do everything they can to move toward success and away from failure

【題目】閱讀下面材料,在空白處填入適當?shù)膬?nèi)容(1個單詞)或括號內(nèi)單詞的正確形式。

In South Korea smartphone cases come with rings fixed on the back 1 (prevent) clumsy owners from dropping them. This makes people look like they are married to their phones. In lots of Seoul’s coffee 2 (shop), couples on dates spend much more time looking at their screens 3 at each other. The results go beyond the 4 (potential) terrible consequences for romance.

Walk around the streets of Seoul, and there is 5 real risk of bumping into people 6 eyes are glued to their smartphone screens. According to the statistics, around 370 traffic accidents annually 7 (cause) by pedestrians using smartphones.

The government initially tried to fight the “smombie” (手機僵尸) phenomenon by distributing hundreds of stickers (貼紙) around cities, 8 (beg) people to “be safe” and look up. This seems to have had little effect even though, in Seoul at least, it recently replaced the stickers with stronger plastic boards.

Instead 9 appealing to people’s good sense, the authorities have therefore turned to trying to save them from being run over. Early last year, they 10 (begin) to test floor-level traffic lights in smombie hotspots in central Seoul. Since then, the experiment has been extended around and beyond the capital. For the moment, the government is keeping old-fashioned eye-level pedestrian lights as well. But in future, the way to look at a South Korea crossroads may be down.

【題目】Directions:Read the following passage. Summarize in no more than 60 words the main idea of the passage and how it is illustrated. Use your own words as far as possible.

According to an official report on youth violence.“In our country today, the greatest threat to the lives of children and adolescents is not disease or starvation or abandonment, but the terrible reality of violence.”Given that this is the case, why aren’t students taught to manage conflict the way they are taught to solve math problems, drive cars, or stay physically fit?

First of all, students need to realize that conflict is unavoidable. It is reported that most violent incidents between students begin with a relatively minor insult. For example, a fight could start over the fact that one student eats a peanut butter sandwich each lunchtime. Laughter over the sandwich can lead to insults, which in turn can lead to violence.

If the conflict occurs, students can practice the golden rule of conflict resolution: stay calm.

Once the student feels calmer. Once the student feels calmer. He or she should choose words that will calm the other person down as well. Rude words and accusations only add fuel to the emotional fire while soft words can put out the fire before it explodes out of control.

After that, they can use another key strategy for conflict resolution. Listening allows the two sides to understand each other. One person should describe his or her side: and the other person should listen without interrupting. Afterwards, the listener can ask non-threatening questions to clarify the speaker’s position. Then the two people should change roles.

Finally, students need to consider what they are hearing. An argument doesn’t mean trying to figure out the fault of the other person but means understanding what the real issue is. As the issue becomes clearer, the conflict often simply becomes smaller.(280 words)

【題目】 This may sound like a joke about a lazy person's dream job. Earn big money by staying in bed and watching TV. But this is really happening, and it's a project of NASA and two European space agencies the Institute of Aerospace Medicine at the Cologne-based German Aerospace Center and the European Space Agency. It's called Artificial Gravity Bed Rest Study, aimed at studying how the body adapts to weightlessness in space.

Scientists are seeking 12 women to spend two full months in bed in the fall at a German lab, plus an additional month there for preparation and recovery. The first 12 test subjects, all men, already have started the study.

Participants spend two entire months in bed and remain lying down even to do everyday things like eating, drinking and exercising. They also answer nature's call and shower, but it's unclear from the NASA website how those tasks are accomplished in bed.

"Daily routine showering, getting dressed, eating, exercising takes much time when you cannot stand up to do them," says the website, adding that there is "continuous data collection", including blood pressure, heart rate, nutrient absorption and also the participants' feelings. Study subjects will spend the 60 days with their heads tilted(傾斜)down six degrees, which imitates(模仿)conditions in space.

Participants are encouraged to pass the time by watching TV, taking online courses, reading and any other activities they can perform while lying down alone in bed to relieve what could be boredom. Family and friends are allowed to visit.

The high $ 18,500 payment for two months of lazing about is probably a major motivation for people willing to go through something this extreme. However, if you're an American who really needs the money, you probably can't afford it. Candidates need to travel to Cologne four times at their own expense for the employment process between April and July. Plus, they need strong German-speaking skills. Also participants need to be nonsmokers between ages 24 and 55, in good health, with normal body weight.

1What are participants expected to do during the study?

A.Report their feelings regularly.B.Complete their daily routines in bed.

C.Keep their bodies tilted down six degrees.D.Record their physical responses every day.

2What data about the participants will the researchers collect?

A.The changes in their weight.B.Their behaviors to weightlessness.

C.The ways they do their daily things.D.Their physical and mental reactions

3What will be a challenge for the participants?

A.The language skills they need.B.The difficulty meeting family.

C.The possibility that they feel dull.D.The slow discovery of their health.

4The requirements for potential participants are .

A.challenging for AmericansB.tailored to thin persons

C.easy for the youth to satisfyD.suitable for most people
