⑶推理判斷。根據(jù)最后一段Can't join us on Dec. 4? At GoodShop, 30% of your spending will be given to Primary Source可知,錯(cuò)過(guò)12月4日活動(dòng)當(dāng)天的話,購(gòu)物者還可以登錄網(wǎng)站購(gòu)物,消費(fèi)額的30%會(huì)被捐給Primary Source,網(wǎng)站留70%,所以答案是A。

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel.
Green said, “Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority.”
Blue interrupted, “You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life.”
Yellow chuckled(咯咯地笑). “The sun is yellow, as well as the moon and the stars. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile.”

【題目】根據(jù)短文理解,選擇正確答案。
Traditionally, across the world, boys and girls attend a mixed school, where they study together. But boys' schools are the perfect place to teach young men to express their emotions (情感) and encourage them to take part in activities such as art, dance and music.
Boys at single-sex schools were said to be more likely to take part in cultural and artistic activities that helped develop their emotional expressiveness, rather than feeling they had to correspond to(和…相符) the "boy code" of hiding their emotions to be a "real man".
The findings of the study go against accepted wisdom that boys do better when taught together with girls.
Tony Little, head master of Eton, warned that boys were being failed by the British education system because it had become too focused on girls. He criticized teachers for failing to recognize that boys are actually more emotional than girls.
The research argued that boys often perform badly in mixed schools because they become discouraged when girls do better earlier in speaking and reading skills.
But in single-sex schools teachers can tailor (量身定做) lessons to boys' learning style, letting them move around the classroom and getting them to compete in teams to prevent boredom, wrote the study's author, Abigail James, of the University of Virginia.
Teachers could encourage boys to enjoy reading and writing with "boy-focused" approaches such as themes and characters that appeal to them. Because boys generally have more acute vision, learn best through touch, and are physically more active, they need to be given "hands-on" lessons where they are allowed to walk around. "Boys in mixed schools view classical music as feminine(女性的) and prefer the modern genre (類(lèi)型) in which violence and sexism are major themes," James wrote.
Single-sex education also made it less likely that boys would feel that they had to be "masterful and in charge" in relationships. "In mixed schools, boys feel forced to act like men before they understand themselves well enough to know what that means," the study reported.
(1)The author believes that a single-sex school would __________.
A.force boys to hide their emotions to be "real men"
B.help boys to be more competitive in schools.
C.encourage boys to express their emotions more freely
D.naturally strengthen boys' traditional image of a man
(2)It is commonly believed that in a mixed school boys __________.
A.behave more responsibly.
B.grow up more healthily.
C.perform relatively better.
D.receive a better education.
(3)According to Abigail James, one of the advantages of single-sex schools is __________.
A.teaching can be tailored to suit the characteristics of boys
B.boys can focus on their lessons without being distracted
C.boys can choose to learn whatever they are interested in
D.teaching can be designed to promote boys' team spirit
(4)What does the underlined word “acute” in paragraph 8 mean?
A.lovely
B.sharp
C.serious
D.dull

It’s nice being nice to others; it’s also great to give people a hand. However, if you start to hurt yourself by doing so, then this is not so healthy. 1 If you fear that you might fall into this category, the following tips will help you to stand up for yourself and regain your self-confidence.

2

Although you may often stay silent if something is wrong or bothers you, it is better to speak your mind right away. You don’t have to be rude, but you do have to be firm and direct. Don’t do things for others if you don’t really want to. Speak up, and soon others will be seeing you in a whole new light.

Start small.

3 This will allow you to practice being brave and self-confident. Tell a person who has cut in line in front of you to move to the back of the line, or tell a salesperson to do that. Before long, you will be confident enough to stand up to your friends and family members.

Judge well.

When dealing with others, you have to exercise good judgment. 4 If a colleague isn’t doing his part, you should rightfully demand that he start doing so. However, if a taxi cuts you off in traffic, just let it go.

5 Rome wasn’t built in a day. If you want to get back again after having been a pushover(耳軟心活的人), it’s best to take one step at a time.

A. Express yourself.

B. Regain your confidence.

C. Startspan> by speaking up for yourself with strangers.

D. Everyone has the right to live without being judged.

E. If you slip back into the pushover mode every once in a while, don’t blame yourself.

F. Sadly, some people are so easily pushed around that they come to be seen as pushovers.

G. It’s one thing to be confident, but quite another to forcefully say no to an unreasonable request.
