Make a study time and have it at the same time every day.This will help your kids to learn to schedule their day and will give them a sense of control over how they spend their time",可知最好的方法是制定一個讓他們堅持的計劃;故選G.
37.B.推理判斷題.根據(jù)文章第三段"Ideal  study times are after dinner or right after school before dinner."可推測應該讓孩子堅持執(zhí)行他們自己創(chuàng)造的時間表;故選B.
38.E.推理判斷題.根據(jù)文章第四段"Never allow your children to study in front of the television,as that will encourage passive activity",可推測后文為嘗試一下通過提供某種獎勵去改變這個壞習慣;故選E.
39.A.推理判斷題.根據(jù)文章第六段"Make sure there is a table or a desk and a comfortable chair"可推測需要為孩子找一個合適的地方學習;故選A.
40.C.推理判斷題.根據(jù)文章第六段"This includes helping them out with their homework sometimes and being there for them with the answers to any questions",這包括幫助他們解決問題,當他們學業(yè)遇到困難時;可知需要花時間陪著孩子學習;故選C.

19.Once upon a time,staying a healthy weight was easy.To lose weight you simply had to practise the reverse of home economics--spend more than you earned.Unfortunately for many,but perhaps not surprisingly,it turns out that people are rather more complicated than bank accounts.
To stay a healthy weight,you need a hormone(荷爾蒙)called lepton to work properly.It sends"I'm full"messages from the fat cells up to the brain,where they go,among other places,to the same pleasure centers that respond to drugs like cocaine.Fat people produce plenty of lepton,but the brain doesn.t seem to respond to it properly.Last year researchers at the Oregon Research Institute scanned the brains of overweight people and found their reward circuit(線路) were underactive.They were eating more to try to get the enjoyment they were missing.
There's a lot of evidence for the fact that most,if not all,of us have a set point around which our weight can vary by about seven to nine kilos,but anything beyond that is a real struggle.Making changes is hard,particularly if your body is working against you.So why not reject the traditional approaches and try some new method,based on the latest research,that work with your body rather than against it.
Several years ago researchers at the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore reported that when they gave rats very little food one day and allowed them to eat plenty the next,they showed virtually all the benefits of a permanent calorie restriction diet.The same goes for humans,according to Dr.James Johnson.
How does it work?Besides forcing the body to burn fat,it may also cause hormonal changes.Most people say that the diet takes a bit of getting used to,but is not as grinding as trying to cut back on an everyday basis.
Older dieters may remember something called brown fat.Unlike the undesirable white stuff; this was a dieter's dream.Instead of storing excess energy as fat,brown-fat tissue burned it off to keep you warm-at least in mice.Brown fat fell out of favor because researchers couldn't find much in humans but now,thanks to the New England journal of Medicine,it's back in fashion.The idea is to expose people to cold temperatures.They then make more brown fat and their weight drops.

74.According to the findings of the Oregon Research Institute,A
A.Overweight people get less pleasure from eating the same amount.
B.Overweight people enjoy eating more than the others do
C.People will become overweight if they eat more than they need
D.People are more likely to be overweight if they produce less leptin

A.No diet at all                       B.Diet on a daily basis
C.Diet every other day                 D.Diet permanently
76.The word"grinding"in the paragraph 5is closest in meaning toD
A.Effective     B.Realistic       C.Unreliable       D.Miserable
77.What is the passage mainly about?B
A.Comparing the various ways of cutting calories
B.Recommending new methods of losing weight
C.Pointing out the misconceptions of losing weight
D.Clarifying the common myth about weight loss.

"And perhaps you shouldn't actually do too much.No exercise recommendations across the world mention an upper limit for safe exercise,but perhaps there is one."
Scientists are not yet sure what is behind this trend-but they say changes to the heart during extreme exercise could contribute.In their report,they suggest:"Long-term strenuous exercise may change pathological (病理的) structure of the heart and arteries (動脈)."
Maureen Talbot, senior cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, said:"This study shows that you don't have to run marathons to keep your heart healthy."
"Light and moderate jogging was found to be more beneficial than being inactive or undertaking strenuous jogging, possibly adding years to your life."
"National guidelines recommend we do 140minutes of moderate-intensity activity a week."
"If it may sound like a lot for you,brisk walking (快走) is also a good exercise.And if you're bit of a couch potato,this is a good place to start.

3.A glass a day keeps obesity at bay.Alcohol has always been thought to cause weight gain because of its high sugar content,but new research suggests a glass a day could form part of a diet.Looking at past studies they found that,while heavy drinkers do put on weight,those who drink in moderation can actually lose weight.
A spokesman for the research team at Navarro University in Spain says,"Light to moderate alcohol intake,especially of wine,may be more likely to protect against,rather than promote,weight gain".The International Scientific Forum on Alcohol Research reviewed the findings and agreed with most of the conclusions,particularly that current data do not clearly indicate if moderate drinking increases weight.
Boston University's Dr.Harvey Finkel found that the biologic mechanisms(生物學機制) relating alcohol to changes in body weight are not properly understood.His team pointed out the strong protective effects of moderate drinking on the risk of getting conditions like diabetes(糖尿。,which relate to increasing obesity.Some studies suggest that even very obese people may be at lower risk of diabetes if they are moderate drinkers.
The group says alcohol provides calories that are quickly absorbed into the body and are not stored in fat,and that this process could explain the differences in its effects from those of other foods.They agree that future research should be directed towards assessing the roles of different types of alcoholic drinks,taking into consideration drinking patterns and including the past tendency of participants to gain weight.
For now there is little evidence that consuming small to moderate amounts of alcohol on a regular basis increases one's risk of becoming obese.What's more,a study three years ago suggested that resveratrol,a compound present in grapes and red wine,destroys fat cells.

66.The passage is mainly for thoseD.

67.The underlined phrase"in moderation"in the first paragraph meansA.
A.properly
B.carefully
C.excitedly
D.frequently
68.Why has alcohol been thought to cause weight gain?B
A.Because its calories are stored in fat.
B.Because it is rich in sugar.
C.Because it changes drinking patterns.
D.Because it increases the risk of diabetes.
69.What can we learn from the passage?C
A.The specific roles of different types of alcoholic drinks are very clear.
B.Resveratrol is proved to increase the risk of becoming fat.
C.The research found moderate drinking has a strong protective effect.
D.Current data clearly show that moderate drinking increases weight.

Compared to oxygen inhalers, salt lamps are even worse. Some stores are selling the products at several hundred yuan, saying that they can release negative ions(離子),reduce radiation levels and purify the air.The lamps mainly contain sodium chloride. The boiling point of sodium is about 800 degrees centigrade and that of candle is 500.So how on earth can negative ions be released at only 500 degrees?
5.Plants that absorb smog
Yeah, right.Plants Vs Smog.It is scientifically justified (證明) that some plants do absorb pollutants from the air.Money plants and calla lilies are among the best-sellers in the market.Even if they don't work,it's good to have some plants in the house anyway.

20.Spending hours playing violent video games prevents teenagers from their moral growth,a study has found. It is thought that regular touch to violence and lack of contact with the outside world makes it harder for them to tell right from wrong. They also struggle to trust other people, and see the world from their viewpoints.
Researchers from Brock University in Ontario found that those who spend more than three hours each day in front of the screen are particularly unlikely to have developed the ability to empathise(同情).
The Canadian researchers surveyed 109 boys and girls, aged 13 and 14,about whether they played video games, which games they liked, and how long they spent playing them.Their findings found that 88 percent of teens said they played games, and more than half admitted to playing games everyday.Violent games were among the most popular.
The teenagers also filled in a questionnaire designed to measure their moral development. For example, they were asked how important it is to save the life of a friend.
Previous studies have suggested that a person's moral judgement goes through four phases as they grow from children and enter adulthood.By the age of 13 or 14,scientists claim young people should be entering the third stage, and be able to empathise with others and take their viewpoints into account. The research found that this stage appeared to be delayed in teenagers who regularly played violent video games.
It is also thought that teenagers who play games regularly did not spend enough time in the real world to learn to take other's thoughts into consideration.Researcher Mirjana Bajovic said:"The present results indicate that some teenagers;who spent three or more hours a day playing violent video games, are deprived of such opportnnities."Writing in the journal Educational Media International.the researchers added:"Touch to violence in video games may influence the development of moral reasoning because violence is not only presented as acceptable but is also justified and rewarded."
They concluded that rather than trying to enforce an‘unrealistic'ban on the games, parents and teachers should encourage teenagers to do charity work and take up after-school activities.

17.They already guide blind and disabled people; now dogs are to be trained to help people with dementia(癡呆) or Alzheimer's.Alzheimer's can make people confuse night and day or forget basic things such as washing or drinking enough water.
The dogs will be trained to respond to sound triggers(觸發(fā)器) in the home that cause them to perform tasks. The duties will include reminding their owners to take medicine,as well as encouraging them to eat, drink and sleep regularly.
The idea was developed by design students at the Glasgow School of Art and will now be put into practice by Alzheimer's Scotland and Dogs for the Disabled. The first dogs will be distributed to four Scottish couples, where one of the partners is in the early stages of dementia. Some 670,000 people in Britain have dementia and one in three over 65s will develop the condition.By 2021 this is expected to rise to one million.
Joyce Gray of Alzheimer's Scotland said,"People in the early stages of dementia are still able to live a relatively normal life, and dogs help to maintain routine."Another advantage of using the pets as companions is that dogs can give them a sense of silent support and companionship.Ms Gray said,"The evidence is that people may forget familiar faces but not pets. It's such a strong bond that people often remember them longest.People don't need to communicate verbally (言語地) but they can still interact. You can have a speechless bond."
Helen McCain, director of Dogs for the Disabled, said,"People with dementia often forget to take the medicine. If a dog presents them with a bag with pills in it there's a greater chance of them taking it.The dog would also encourage the owner to take them out for walks, ensuring they keep exercising and interacting with other people."

10.Many people focus on physical fitness, but few know that brain fitness is also something you can work on.In fact, you can exercise your brain as often as you work out your arms or abs--and the results can be positive and empowering. It's helpful to think of your brain as you work out a muscle. To improve your brain, you can't simply repeat the same exercises over and over.Just as lifting a two pound weight will no longer challenge you,so will repetitive exercises such as crosswords or Sudoku.Once you master easy exercises, you must move on to harder ones in order to push your brain-like your muscles-to a new level.
Scientists once believed that your mental abilities were fixed in adulthood. Now that studies on neuroplasticity have shown just the opposite, millions of people around the world have adopted the new practice of brain training.
The most popular of these brain training products is made by the San Francisco-based Lumosity, which employs a team of in-house neuroscientists with degrees from Stanford and UC Berkeley.Realizing that brains need more sophisticated programs and guidance to grow and change,Lumosity's scientists work with an experienced team of game designers.Together they've developed a fun, effective online brain training program that measures, tracks, and adapts to your progress so you'll always be challenged.Lumosity's training system and 40+games are based on well-studied tests used in clinical neuropsychology research.
In a 2013 Stanford study,a treatment group of 21 breast cancer survivors used 12 weeks of Lumosity training to work on processing speed, mental flexibility, and working memory tasks. On average, those who trained improved on tests of these abilities, compared to a group that did not train with Lumosity. There is even some first round evidence suggesting that Lumosity may be beneficial to normal, healthy adults. In a 2011 study by Lumosity and San Francisco State University researchers,13 people who did Lumosity training over 5 weeks improved on tests of brain performance compared to a group that did not train. On average, those who trained improved working memory scores by 10% and attention scores by 20%.
Training can take just a few minutes a day,but the rewards can make a difference in many aspects of life. The goal of brain training is not to improve game scores:it's to improve the underlying core abilities that those games rely on.Lumosity is one of the first and most popular brain training programs in existence. There's a small fee to use the full product,or new users can start a free trial.
