Stand in front of the school gate, I began to wonder what to do next. Suddenly a good idea occurs to me. “Why not get together with some good friends for a picnic in such a fine weather?” I immediately telephoned some of my best friends, but they all agreed to join me. About two hours late, we finally arrived a pleasant park with trees and flowers here and there. We really enjoyed us greatly.

【答案】①usually→usual ; ②were→was ; ③how→what ; ④stand→standing ; ⑤occurs→occurred ; ⑥刪除a ; ⑦but→and ; ⑧表示“兩個小時后”,用later ; ⑨arrived之后加at; ⑩us→ourselves

②考查there be句型。nobody是不定代詞,所以be動詞用單數(shù),were改成was。

③考查感嘆句。a bad memory是名詞短語,所以用what引導,how改成what。

arrive at到達,是固定短語,所以arrived之后加at。

⑩考查固定短語。enjoy oneself玩得愉快,是固定短語,所以us改成ourselves。

【題目】When I was five years old, my parents would have to pull me home from yet another painful English vacation. I still didn’t want to leave. I want to be away from home. I wanted to go somewhere new and exciting. This became the theme of the next twenty years. I’d spend the whole year counting down to my next holiday, and then as soon as I left I’d begin to dread having to return home. Year after year.

Ten years ago, I decided to build a life that I didn’t want to escape from. I knew I wanted to travel in the long term, but I didn’t have a lot of money or savings, and there is no one paying for my adventures. For five years, I did three jobs while studying full-time at university. I didn’t eat out and I didn’t buy anything I didn’t need. I even moved in with my parents. I was able to save $16,000 over those five years, which was enough to keep me on the road for a couple of years.

But what if two years wouldn’t be enough? Before leaving, I began to spend my time in making plans that would allow me to work anywhere that had an Internet connection. At the time, I was studying for a master degree in physics. While studying I came up with a list of my interests and skills and began researching into a way to do these anywhere. If I could make money from it and if I could do it online then it was something worth going after.

I created a writing file that would help me to find the free writing jobs. I researched English and physics teaching online, and built travel websites to earn income through sale and advertising. Most of these failed, but I didn’t give up.

The work I do has changed over the years and it’s still changing now. Now, I pay my traveling through several different things. I’m the Student Travel Expert for About.com, and a senior writer for Too Many Adapters, a travel technology website. In addition, I will have my first book published this summer. I also offer a travel planning service to help readers prepare for their travels abroad.

To reach this point, where I can cover my expenses and travel full-time, took many, many years of hard work. For me, the freedom makes it worth it. With everything set in place, finally my dreams came true.

【題目】It’s 5:00 in the morning when the alarm rings in my ears. I roll out of bed and walk blindly through the dark into the bathroom. I turn on the light and put on my glasses. The house is still as I walk downstairs while my husband and three kids sleep peacefully. Usually I go for a long run, but today I choose my favorite exercise DVD. Insanity. Sweat pours down my face and into my eyes. My heart races as I face my body to finish each movement. As I near the end of the exercise, I feel extremely tired, but a smile is on my face. It’s not a smile because the DVD is over, but a smile of success from pushing my body to its extreme limit.

Some people enjoy shopping, smoking , food, work, or even chocolate. But I need exercise to get through each day. Some shake heads when they see me run through the town. Others get hurt when I refuse to try just one bite of their grandmother’s chocolate cake. They raise their eyebrows, surprised by my “no thank you,” or by my choice to have a salad. Over the years , I have learned it’s okay to just say “no.” I shouldn’t feel sorry for refusing food that I don’t want to eat.

So what drives me to roll out of bed at 5:00 a.m.? What gives me the reason to just say no to ice cream? Commitment. A commitment to change my life with a way that reduces daily anxiety, increases self –confidence and energy, extends life and above all improves my body shape. This is the point where a smile appears on my face as I look at myself in the mirror or try on my favorite pair of jeans that now fit just right. It’s through commitment and sweat that I can make a difference within myself inside and out.

1Why is there a smile on the author’s face in the morning?

A. Because she sees her family sleeping peacefully.

B. Because she finishes her favorite exercise.

C. Because she enjoys the interesting DVD.

D. Because she feels a sense of achievement.

2What does the underlined word “commitment” in the last paragraph mean?

A. Good health. B. Firm belief.

C. A strong power. D. A regular habit.

3What can we learn about the author from the text?

A. She acts in a strange way.

B. She wants to look different from others.

C. She aims to develop a good body shape.

D. She has difficulty getting along with others.
