Multi-talented singer才藝歌手-周杰倫

  Multi-talented singer才藝歌手-周杰倫

Mumbling (喃喃低語) is a talent (才能)? Sure, anyone can mumble, but no one can do it as pleasurably as the multi-talented Jay Chou. His unique blend (混合) of R&B and Hip Hop sounds differentiates him away from his fellow competitors.

Jay knows how to play the piano, the cello (大提琴) , the guitar, and the drums, therefore making his musical potential (潛力) endless. He mixes Western instruments with Chinese instruments, like the di (Chinese flute) and the sanxian (three-string). “My music, ”he explains, “my music should be like magic. It should have variety (多樣的). It should be ephemeral (瞬息的), changing and progressing. ”

He won Best Producer for Fantasy Life and Eight Dimensions. He continues to succeed with his music and inspires people. The way he thinks of shocking people is to do things that people don’t expect in his music, in his performances. He explains, “Whatever you do, you don't try to follow others. Go your own way.” It is also his personal philosophy (人生哲學(xué)) .

Though he is the hottest star, his dream is not to become a pop star but a musician. He doesn't like interviews or awards ceremonies. The only two places he's comfortable age in the studio and on the basketball court. The quiet, shy boy likes to stay at the piano and compose (編寫) songs and loves playing basketball in his off time. This is Jay Chou, a cool but shy boy.

Renata Di Pietro was studying to be an opera singer. But at 23, while on a music scholarship at the University of Iowa in 1976, her sight began to fail. Soon, it became increasingly difficult to read scores and pick up hand signals from conductors, and the gifted singer was forced to drop out.

After moving to Cleveland, Georgia in 2005, Di Pietro relied on guide dogs to get around. Over the years, she became depressed when she’d lose one of the dogs, who had become her best friend, to old age or death. “It’s very painful, because you love each one,” she says.

In 2009, Di Pietro was intrigued by information from a friend that miniature horses typically live for at least 30 years and make calm and strong guides. She started with a male horse, but he was too hard to control. Angel came next, a mini white female horse Di Pietro has mostly trained herself. “Horses have the ability to avoid the things in the way,” she says. “If I am about to run into something, she slides her body in front of me.”

Di Pietro, now 59, has taught her guide horse to make some sounds with her hoof (馬蹄)when she comes to stairs. “Angel can find a chair and locate the nearest door for me,” Di Pietro says. Currently, she’s training Angel to pull her wheelchair and to fetch.

Despite her disability, Di Pietro still sings, performing with her husband, musician Carl Hummer, at special events. Angel is always by her side. “I fight a battle every day to take courage to engage the world,” Di Pietro says. “Angel is my warhorse. We fight that battle together.”

An allowance(零花錢) is an important tool for teaching kids how to make plans for the use of money, save and make their own decisions. Children remember and learn from mistakes when their own dollars are lost or spent foolishly.

How large an allowance is suitable? Experts say there is not right amount. Actual amounts differ from region to region, and from family to family.

To set an suitable allowance for your child, work up a weekly plan. Allow for entertainment costs such as movies and snacks. Next, include everyday expenses such as lunch money, bus fare, school supplies. "If you make the child responsible for these bills’," says Josephine Swanson, a consumer specialist, " he or she will learn to plan for necessary costs."

Finally, add some extra money to make saving possible. If you can keep your child’s allowance in line with that of his friends. A child whose buying power falls away below his peers’ can feel left out.

It can be tough, but don’t excuse your children when they make a mistake with their allowance. When Brooke Stephens was ten and growing up in Jacksonville, her mother gave her $5 a week, $1.75 of which was for bus fare and lunch." If you lose your money," Brooke’s mother told her, "you walk home."

One week the girl spent all her allowance in a candy store, then she called home for a ride. " Mom made me walk home," recalls Stephens, now a financial planner in Brooklyn. " At first I was angry. But I finally realized that she was trying to teach me an important lesson. "

Experts advise that an allowance should not be tied directly to a child’s daily housework at home. Kids should help around the house not because they get paid for it but because they share responsibilities as members of a family. You might, however, pay a child for doing extra jobs at home, which can develop his or her early habits.

A.spend all the money very soon

3. In Paragraph 4, the words “his peers” refer to ________.

A.his parents                            B.his friends

C.his financial experts                     D.his teachers

4. Why does the writer mention Brooke Stephens?

A.To question the opinion about pocket money.
