I am a Canadian girl aging 17 and I’ m mad about music. It is one of the most important thing in my life. I listen music whenever I can. I have a minidisk player, with it I can have access to music whether walking in the street or ride on the bike. At home, there is a CD player in my room, but music is on all the time. I like rock music better of all and my favorite band is Rolling stones. It so happened that there had a live concert of Rolling stones last Sunday. I went there and it was a great fun. I am also fond of classic music and I especial enjoy Beethoven when I’m doing my homework.

【答案】

【1】agingaged

【2】thingthings

【3】listen后加to

【4】itwhich

【5】rideriding

【6】butsoand

【7】betterbest

【8】hadwas

【9】去掉great fun 前面的a

【10】especialespecially;

【5】whether… or 是并列連詞,連接兩個同等的形式,前面是walking in the street,所以后面也應該是-ing短語,故rideriding。

【6】句意:在我的家里也有一個CD播放機,所以音樂隨時都在,前后是并列關系而不是轉折關系,butsoand。

【7】of all是比較范圍, 所以前面用最高級形式best。

【8】這里是there be 結構,過去式單數用there was。

You already know that you should wake up early to become more productive, and perhaps you have also heard that you shouldn’t check your email first in the morning. While this advice is good and well-documented, there is also another kind of productivity advice that is as effective as well. 1

1. Work when there is a distraction(分心) around

Your environment doesn’t have to be 100% quiet if you want to get work done. Let’s say that you are working from home and you have kids. Let’s also assume that you don’t have a quiet workspace in your home to do your work. Naturally, you could decide to do work during the quiet hours. 2 .

2. Drink coffee before taking a nap

3 Then take a caffeine nap. Combining coffee and napping time can have a big improvement in one’s personal productivity. Drink a cup of coffee, take a 20-minute nap right afterward and wake-up refreshed.

3. 4

It’s so funny to think that the places that seem like the last ones in which to get anything done are the best for productivity. I’m talking about trains and when I travel alone, I look forward to getting work done there. In fact, I have done a lot of work during my trips when I’m moving from one place to another.

4. Close the curtains

Closing the curtains can improve your productivity. I might do some work at the dining table where there is a window to the left of me. Since I can see the nearby parking space through the window (and the people and moving cars as well), the movement might catch my attention, so the simplest way to prevent the distraction is to close the curtains.5

A. Work in a train.

B. Focus on one thing at a time.

C. Have a mobile Internet access with you.

D. But not all of the tasks have to be done then.

E. Try these tips and see how they work for you.

F. Want to improve your afternoon productivity?

G. That way I can put all of my attention to my work.

【題目】Today is Sarah’s birthday. She is seventy-five. We asked a few old friends to dinner.

Like most elderly people, I suppose, we spent most of the evening talking about old times. Thirty years ago, the village used to be a quiet place. Now it has changed. Every Sunday hundreds of cars pass through the village at what I think a dangerous speed. They make the village almost as noisy as the streets of a large town. As a boy I enjoyed riding on the backs of the farm horses. Things are different now. Today there are very few horses working on the farms. The farm workers today drive tractors, not horses. A man is not of much use on a farm unless he knows all about machines. Now almost every house in the village has a TV set. Is it a good thing for children to spend the evening sitting in front of a TV set? When I was young I did not waste my time indoors. I would spend the long summer evenings outdoors. I would play with my friends, go fishing or walk by the river. When my grandchildren asked me the reason why I haven’t bought a TV set, I tell them there are many books I still want to read. I can’t find time for both reading and watching TV.

【1】The old like to talk about _______.

A. themselves B. others C. the past D. nothing

【2】When I was a boy, I _______ riding on farm horses.

【4I would rather _______ than _______.

A. watch TV; do some reading

B. play with friends; go fishing

C. do some reading; watch TV

D. go fishing; play with friends
