故將is改為was。

故去掉in

故將they改為it。

故將which改為that。

Walter Cavanagh has nearly 1,500 valid credit cards to his name and holds the Guinness record for the most credit cards.

Mr. Plastic Fantastic — a title given to him by Guinness World Records — is also the proud owner of the world’s longest wallet, which can hold about 800 cards. But he uses it only to carry a few cards, while the rest are safely kept in bank safe-deposit boxes.

Cavanagh started collecting credit cards in the late 1960s. “One of my best friends and I made a silly bet(打賭); the guy who could collect the most credit cards by the end of the year would win dinner,” he said. “I got 143 cards by the end of the year, and my friend collected 138.”

After winning that bet, Cavanagh decided to simply keep going with his unusual collection. He got credit cards from gas stations, airlines, bars, and even ice cream stores — all with kinds of limits, some as low as $50.

If there’s one card missing from Cavanagh’s collection, it’s that from the Newberry Group. They refused to give him a card in the early 1970s, even though he’d collected over 100 by then. They said he had too much credit. Therefore, so far he hasn’t had a Newberry card in his collection.

Cavanagh hasn’t stopped applying for new cards — he’s held the Guinness record since 1971 and has no intention of letting go of it. He copies whole pages from a U.S. directory(名錄)of businesses and keeps sending applications. If he is refused, he writes back to the company explaining his goal. But he doesn’t count useless cards in his total collection.

Thanks to all the cards to his name, Cavanagh has access to about $1.7 million at any moment. Despite this privilege(特權), he has managed to achieve an excellent credit score.

The retired financial planner and credit expert has only one piece of advice to share: “Never use a card to buy anything you can’t pay off in a couple of months. If you don’t have the discipline, you shouldn’t have the cards.”

1When did Cavanagh begin to collect credit cards?

A. When he made a bet with his friend.

B. When he wanted to create a Guinness record.

C. When he owned a very long wallet.

D. When he was treated to dinner by his friend.

2Why hasn’t Cavanagh collected a Newberry card?

A. His given card got lost.

B. He wasn’t allowed to collect one.

C. His application was refused.

D. It isn’t worth collecting anyway.

3What does Cavanagh usually do when his application is refused?

A. He visits the company himself.

B. He tells the company his goal.

C. He chooses to let go of it.

D. He sends another application at once.

4What suggestion does Cavanagh give us in the last paragraph?

A. Never apply for a credit card.

B. Have the power to control ourselves.

C. Use credit cards as often as possible.

D. Collect more credit cards to show off.

Earlier this year, artist Malik was about to post a selfie (自拍照)from the Brooklyn Bridge when he had the second thought. He wanted to share something different with his friends and the world.

Malik thought that the social media (媒體)had become impersonal and he wanted to connect with people in a more meaningful way. Therefore, the Reading Project was born. He began leaving piles of his books in famous New York City locations with a card containing simple instructions put inside each one: take a book, read it and share your thoughts with the artist by email.

The piles of books themselves can be seen as works of art, and so is the process (過程)of sharing. Unlike many of the things we share today, he likes to keep the project off social media. To keep the project pure (純的),he doesn’t even turn around as he walks away once he has left a pile of books. When he has left them behind, he prefers email to be the only way that he learns what happens to them. The project has now taken him — and his books — all over the world, including London.

“I hope people pick them up and I also hope they read them and let me know their feelings on them. And even if they don't let me know, I just hope they will read the books,” Malik said.

He has received thousands of messages from people in more than 30 countries all over the world. For Malik, kooks are meaningless and lifeless if they gather dust(灰塵)on a shelf and are never read again. He intends to carry on with the project for some time, with a plan to visit Brazil and then decides whether he will continue it or not.

Most of all, lie loves the connection the books give him with strangers across the world, which is something that oilier posts could never achieve,

1What hit Malik when he intended to post a selfie?

A.His selfie being not very attractive for a long time.

B.That social media made people close to each other.

C.His thoughts that it should be shared with more people.

D.That a new way could be used to connect with the world,

2Why does Malik prefer others to connect with him by email?

A.He isn’t good at talking with people face to face.

B.It is a quick way to know what happens.

C.He doesn't want to be troubles by social media.

D.He thinks people needn’t know the process of sharing.

3What can we infer about Malik's project from the text?

A.It won’t last long for a lack of books.

B.It was first started on Brooklyn Bridge.

C.It has improved the relation among strangers.

D.It has proved to be helpful to connect with others.

4What is the best title for this text?
