Ⅴ. 讀寫任務(wù)(共一小題,滿分25分)

I 've been in New York City for six months. As far as I know, New York City is one of the most popular cities in the world. The city was famous for its financial, landmarks, architectures and sports etc. In contrast to New York City, my native city in China is small and undeveloped. I can tell it just by taking a look at the education in New York City.

Education in New York City is different from my hometown. Firstly, many famous universities and colleges such NYU, Columbia University, SUNY and CUNY etc are located here. While my hometown owns zero university. Secondly, New York City keeps providing free education, lunch and metrocard for students until they finish high school. Thirdly, the teaching methods are free and creative. In New York City, the teacher won't teach you all the details about the solution, they're just give you some examples and you yourself finish the rest.

Now I really enjoy living in America.

【答案】

Life in New York City is quite different from the writer’s hometown. Take education for example. Citizens in New York City can enter the key universities. Moreover, High school students can enjoy free education, as well as creative teaching methods in New York.

There are many advantages of living in the city. First of all, big cities provide them the greatest convenience in their daily lives. Not only transportation but also varieties of markets make people’s lives effortless.

However, some may argue that it is also harmful to live in the city. It is too crowded and noisy. Besides, city residents lose touch with the land and rhythm of nature. In addition to all these, city-settlers live under constant threat. The crime rate in most cities is very high.

I choose to live in a big city, since I am in favor of the convenience of big cities, although I am longing for the cozy atmosphere and relationship among neighbors and friends which almost only exist in small cities. This is the best thing which is mainly represented by significant transportation and various markets. To begin with, effective transportation provides great convenience for citizens. For instance, by using city buses, people can go anywhere at any time without worrying coming home late. Further more, various markets make people’s lives easy. There are a plenty of commodities and services in large supermarket as well as many 24-hour stores . In that case, citizens do not go far away to buy groceries. With this convenience provided by markets, people will love their lives in big cities.

In this high technology age, time is money. Fortunately, big cities provide them the greatest convenience in their daily lives. This is the best reason I find to live in a big city.

讀寫任務(wù)(共1小題,滿分25分)

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文

This is a very simple statement, yet not so easy to do—Keep your promises. I try to conduct my life in this manner. If you tell someone that you will do something for them, you can’t turn around at the 1ast minute and say, I didn’t do it because it wasn’t convenient. Keeping your promises is also a way to live your life with integrity. That's why it’s important to be aware of your  choice of words, and to live consciously. There were many times that I was not able to keep my promise for example of repaying some money to a friend or colleague, somewhere in the back of my mind I had always intended to repay the debt even if it was years in the future. But that is not a very good way of living. If you consistently live like this you will lose friends because l was not true to my word. It is heartbreaking for both sides.

Especial with Children you need to keep your promise. I get so disturbed when l hear parents trying to sooth a child’s temper and the parent says “I promise一" Later when the child remind the parent or guardian,it becomes clear that the parent had no real thought to keep the promise. The words were just said to placate the child. The parent, as I remember, thought that his or her child would just forget a11 about what was promised. But children have a great memory. Especially when they hear the words I PROMISE. Those words sound stronger than any other words in the English language to a child. We have been taught that those words have power and magic.

2009.廣東卷)  讀寫任務(wù)(共1小題,滿分25分)

閱讀下面的短文,然后按照要求寫一篇150詞左右的英語短文。

Jackie is perhaps the most easily annoyed koala(考拉)at the Featherdale Wildlife Park in southern Australia. All the koalas there are unhappy and complaining. You would be too if you were used to night activities and someone kept waking you up all day while you were trying to sleep it off. That’s right—sleep it off. The average koala is always half asleep because it feeds on the leaves of a special kind that makes it sleepy.

The reason Jackie and her fellow koalas are repeatedly awoken from their deep sleep is so they can be hugged and photographed by tourists, who make the trips to Featherdale and an increasing number of other national parks for just that special experience. Whatever department in the Aussie government in charge of such things is now moving to make the practice illegal, which is understandable. How would you react,my friend,if you were trying to sleep off a dozen times and some round, furry creature smelling of grass kept waking you?
