A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty，in health and in sickness．It will sleep on the cold ground when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely，if only it can be near its master．It will kiss the hand that has no food to offer．It will lick the wounds and sores that caused by the roughness of the world．It guards the sleep of its pauper master as if he were a prince．When all other friends desert，the dog remains．When riches take wings and fame falls to pieces，the dog is as constant in its love as the sun in its journeys through the heavens．
