【題目】閱讀理解。
Many people write to newspaper and magazines to express their opinions. Letters to the editor must carry the writer's full name, address and telephone number, although the information is not necessary for publication. This requirement to provide personal particulars is a clear indication that writers are held responsible for what they say. When a writer wants his voice heard, he needs to claim ownership of his voice. Responsibility is the name of the game.
“People today prefer living together to putting their signatures on a marriage certificate because they refuse to accept responsibility for the relationship,” said social worker Ken Yip, “and this is what is causing a lot of family problems.” When we sign a paper, for example, a business contract or a bank document, the signature is a seal of consent, an agreement to take the matter seriously. Most governments and many organizations will not process written complaints if they do not bear the writer's signature. The absence of a signature, they explain, tells us that the writer cannot be too serious and therefore does not deserve a reply.
There are people who wish to remain anonymous(匿名的) for various reasons. Multi-billionaire Mr. King donates generously to charity several times a year. He gives simply because he wants to help but not for the publicity his donations may bring, and he does not want his good deeds to make news. In other cases, people insist on anonymity because they are afraid of the consequences of revealing their identity. Crime witnesses may be willing to assist the police, but most are unwilling to give their names when reporting a crime.
Name or no name? The answer is very personal and lies in how much we want to get involved. We all have a name. It is a matter of responsibility to use it when we make a statement, a claim or an accusation. We all want to honor our own name, and it is only by stamping our expression of an opinion with our own name that we honor what we say.
(1)What does the writer mean by saying “Responsibility is the name of the game”?
A.Writers need to provide their personal information in the game.
B.Publication must bear the writer's full name, address and phone number.
C.Writers should be responsible for their names.
D.Names are required to indicate writers' responsibility for what they say.
(2)The second paragraph suggests that a paper without a signature may ________.
A.not get a reply
B.help to end a relationship
C.be accepted all the same
D.become a family problem
(3)Some people don't want their names known because they are ________.
A.hesitant to make a donation
B.unwilling to draw public attention
C.afraid of an accusation
D.ready for involvement
(4)The passage is mainly about ________.
A.honor and writers
B.identity and signature
C.signature and responsibility
D.anonymity and signature

Why do some people eat too much? Is it because they're hungry? Or is there a scientific(explain)?
There are a number of theories to accountovereating. One factor depends on the time of day. “It's all part of a routine,” says Randy Seeley, professor of psychiatry in Cincinnati. “You're hungry at noon because that's the time you(eat)lunch for the past 100 days.” Another reason we may eat more than necessary is that the body needs to satisfy a salt and sugar balance. Drinking alcohol also increases appetite, because the body wants something (absorb) the alcohol.
(basic), overeating can also be a question of more biological factors. For instance, your body temperature can tell your brain that you feel hungry. “Your body temperature(drop) when it's time to eat, and eating warms you up,” says Gina Harlow, a paediatrics professor at Harvard University. Also, the smell of certain foods can make us imagine subconsciously the pleasure of eating. Harlow adds, “If you know you love French fires, (smell)them will make you want to eat them because you know how good they are,can lead to eating too many.”
So, the next time you realize you've eaten too much, don't worry about it. You can always blame it on science.

【題目】閱讀理解
A new study of 8,000 young people in the journal of Health and Social Behavior shows that although love can make adults live healthily and happily,it is a bad thing for young people. Puppy love(早戀)may bring stress for young people and can lead to depression. The study shows that girls become more depressed than boys, and younger girls are the worst of all.
The possible reason for the connection between love and higher risk of depression for girls is “l(fā)oss of self”. According to the study, even though boys would say “l(fā)ose themselves in a romantic relationship”, this “l(fā)oss of self” is much more likely to lead to depression when it happens to girls. Young girls who have romantic relationships usually like hiding their feelings and opinions. They won't tell that to their parents.
Dr Marianm Kaufman, an expert on young people problems, says 15% to 20% young people will have depression during their growing. Trying romance often causes the depression. She advises kids not to jump into romance too early. During growing up, it is important for young people to build strong friendships and a strong sense of self. She also suggests the parents should encourage their kids to keep close to their friends, attend more interesting school activities and spend enough time with family.
Parents should watch for signs of depression—eating or mood changes—and if they see signs from their daughters or sons, they need to give help. The good news is that the connection between romance and depression seems to become weak with age. Love will always make us feel young, but only maturity(成熟) gives us a chance to avoid its bad side effects.
(1)What's the main idea of the passage?
A.Puppy love may bring young people depression.
B.Parents should forbid their children's love.
C.Romance is a two-edged sword for adults.
D.Romance is good for young people.
(2)Which of the following is more likely to have depression?
A.Young people who have a strong sense of self.
B.Young boys whose parents watch for their behavior.
C.Young girls who always hide their feelings and opinions.
D.Careless parents whose children are deep in love.
(3)What can be inferred from the passage?
A.Lacking love can lead young people to grow up more quickly.
B.Early love makes young people keep close to their friends and parents.
C.Parents should help their children to be aware of the signs of depression.
D.The older a woman is, the less likely she seems to lose herself in romance.
(4)What's the author's attitude towards puppy love?
A.Confused
B.Disapproving
C.Disinterested
D.Scared
