3Her speech was so amusing that the audience couldn’t help bursting into laughter now and then.

4Ecological protection is essential to human beings well-being and future, which also brings about the historical opportunity of the world’s development.

分析句子可知,可以使用固定句式:there is no way to do,意為無法做某事;提供介詞without可以構(gòu)成without+V-ing 賓語結(jié)構(gòu)作原因狀語,意為在沒有的情況下, 再根據(jù)其它漢語提示,故翻譯為:There is no way to lean a foreign language well without mastering great amounts of vocabulary. 。

As to how to settle my problems my workmates supported many constructive advice。

Her speech was so amusing that the audience couldnt help bursting into laughter now and then.

至關(guān)重要”可用詞組is essential to,主語為Ecological protection,賓語為human beings well-being and future,所提供固定結(jié)構(gòu)bring about可意為孕育,且后半句可以用非限制性定語從句翻譯,先行詞由Ecological protection充當。 Ecological protection is essential to human beings well-being and future, which also brings about the historical opportunity of the worlds development.

詞匯方面:be essential to..

Ecological protection is essential to human beings well-being and future

Ecological protection also brings about the historical opportunity of the worlds development.

Ecological protection is essential to human beings well-being and future, which also brings about the historical opportunity of the worlds development.

The Youngest Skier To The South Pole

On Friday December 9th, a 16-year-old skier, Ameba Hempleman-Adamsreached the South Pole with her father after skiing 97 miles and spending 17nights on the ice. On the final day they skied 14 miles and afterwards Ameba said she felt “elated and tired” on reaching the South Pole.

“The biggest challenges were the freezing cold and eating only dried food. The best bit has been experiencing what Dad does on expeditions (探險). It’s the first time I’ve been on a difficult long journey with him and now I know what it’s like. The trip brought me closer to Dad, but I also had to put up with his snoring (鼾聲) which was terrible.”

She added, “Would I do it again? I’m not sure. I’ll have to think about that after a few nights’ sleep! At times it’s been really hard: I’ve got aching shoulders, and my back’s been sore from pulling my sledge (雪橇), I’ve got blisters (水泡) on my feet from the boots and I’ve got a cold burn on my nose from my sunglasses. 43 ”.

She said the most extraordinary part of the trip had been the breath taking scenery and the sense of isolation in the Antarctic landscape. “I’ve really missed my friends while I’ve been away and want to thank them for all their messages of support.”

Friends and relatives who posted comments on Ameba’s expedition website paid tribute (致敬) to her positive attitude which, they said, would be an inspiration to others.

Her father, David, said “Ameba has done amazing well. I’m proud of her. She showed real determination. She was tough and she pulled her sledge the whole way. It was a special experience to share those 97 miles with her.”

Dear Amelia,

When I was reading a post about taking someone to the movies, something happened a couple of years ago suddenly hit me.

I used to drink Cokes and they had a competition where there was a code inside the bottle cap. You might win something so long as you went to a website and entered the code. I won some free Cokes. But what astonished and delighted me was the Grand Prize I won then.

The Grand Prize was free movies for a year. They pointed out that one movie a week was what free movies for a year meant. All of the tickets were valid(有效的) for one year from the day I received them. So I must use them in the following year. I used quite a few taking friends to movies we all wanted to see.

But the best thing I did with them was that I donated 20 tickets (all I had left by that time) to the local Women’s Transition House, a place where women and children could go when avoiding a bad situation in general and get help to make a new start.

My workplace team had decided to help people in need, so we collected donations for that particular New Year’s Day. I knew that the Women’s Transition House provided some childcare for the women so they could go for job interviews and things like that.

I put those tickets in a box and wrote a note on the outside, asking the Women’s Transition House staff to give movie tickets to women there over the holidays to have some fun to do, with or without their children, which made me really happy.

1How did the author get the tickets?

A.By visiting a website by chance.B.By using some Cokes to get them.

C.By getting a code at the bottom of a bottle.D.By winning the prize for drinking Cokes.

2How many tickets did the author and his friends use?

A.About 22.B.About 32.C.About 52.D.About 365.

A.Lucky and caring.B.Creative and careful.

C.Responsible and cheerful.D.Thankful and generous.

The Christmas of my 16th, when decorating the Christmas tree with Mum, I accidentally dropped and broke an old glass ball. It had been on our tree for as long as I could remember.

Regretfully, I knelt to pick up the pieces and was surprised to find a small piece of paper among them. Unfolding the tiny note, I recognized my father’s penciled writing. Lifting my eyes, I saw my mothers smile.

“Your Daddy wrote that and put it in that blue ball during our first Christmas together, just before you were born,” she said.

I wouldn’t have believed it, if there hadn’t been the note in my hands. Daddy always regarded getting the tree decorated as an important task. And yet this bit of yellowed paper proved that long ago my Daddy had done something romantic at Christmas.

Carefully putting the note aside, I cleaned up the pieces, wishing I could reassemble them. “You needn’t fit the parts of the old glass ball together again. Pick out another one and put the note back inside.” Mum said.

Now, as I celebrate the holidays without Mum, who died of cancer years ago, I feel really sad. Each year as I decorate Christmas tree. I recall the moment I shared with her that winter afternoon and blink away my tears.

As I carefully handle those old glass balls. I love knowing that one of them holds a secret between Daddy and Mum — a secret that was obvious to all who knew them.
