In order to promote participation in outdoors exercise, our school organized an activity to climb a mountain on April 10. The majority of my class took part in the activity.

Early in the morning, having gathered outside the school gate, we head straight to the thickly-forested mountain. We set out for the top and were in high spirits the moment when we arrived at the foot of the mountain. In course of the climb, we cooperated with each other to pass the rocky area. Laughing and cheered, we eventually reached the top, which we were greeted by the bright sunshine and fresh air. Viewing from the top, the city was beautiful. Bathed in the sunshine, we entertained us with songs, dances and game.

This event is extremely beneficial and we strongly suggest that similar events are held every year!

在這句話中,exercise(活動,運動)是一個名詞,應用形容詞修飾。

故將which改為where

故將are改為be

I work at a company where there are lots of employees. I can’t say that I know them all by name, but I know my fair share of them. I think that almost all of them know me. It is all based on one simple principle: I believe that every single person deserves to be acknowledged, even though it is only a smile or a nod of the head.

When I was about ten years old, I was walking down the street with my mother. She stopped to speak to Mr. Lee. I was busy throwing stones at the stop sign. I knew I could see Mr. Lee any old time around the neighborhood, so I didn’t pay any attention to him. After we passed Mr. Lee, my mother stopped me and said something that has stuck with me from that day until now. She said, “You let that be the last time you ever walk by somebody and not open up your mouth to speak, because even a dog can wave its tail when it passes you on the street.” That phrase sounds simple, but it’s been a guidepost for me and the foundation of who I am.

At work, I always used to say hello to the founder of the company and ask him how our business was doing. But I also spoke to the people who cleaned the buildings and asked how their children were doing. I’ve become vice president, but that hasn’t changed the way I approach people. I still follow my mother’s advice. I speak to everyone I see, no matter where I am. You will realize how powerful it is just to open your mouth and say, “Hello.” I’ve learned that speaking to people creates a pathway into their world, and it lets them come into mine, too.

1Which of the following can replace the underlined word “acknowledged” in Paragraph 1?

A.Accepted.B.Thanked.

C.Greeted.D.Respected.

2Why did the author ignore Mr. Lee?

A.The author often met him.B.The author was too busy.

C.The author didn’t like him.D.The author didn’t know him.

3What did the author learn from his mother?

A.Everyone should be treated fairly.B.Speak to everyone you see.

C.Polite behavior is important in your life.D.Friends may disappear from your life any time.

4What’s the author’s purpose in writing the text?

A.To show respect for his mother.B.To share how to succeed in work.

C.To show how to approach others.D.To share an important principle.

The Tokyo Summer Olympics is going green. The 5,000 medals Japan has made are more special than most.

One novel focus of the Tokyo Olympics is to be“sustainable”—to avoid using too many natural resources, so that the games are easy on the environment. As part of this goal, the organizers decided to make all of the Olympic medals out of metal recycled from old electronics.

Almost all electronics are made with small amounts of "precious metals", like gold and silver. But collecting enough of these metals to make 5,000 medals was a huge challenge. That's because the amount of metal in each device is tiny. It would take about 20,000 cell phones to get just 1 kilogram of gold.

Beginning in April 2017, the organizers placed collection boxes around the country, and asked people to turn in their old electronic devices. Soon people began to respond to the initiative, turning in smartphones, digital cameras, hand-held games, and laptops. At first, collection went slowly, but soon more and more areas began to take part. By the end, 1,621 local governments had helped out with the collection process.

Then came the job of breaking those devices down into smaller pieces. After being taken apart and sorted, the small electronics were smelted (熔煉) to get all the gold, silver, and bronze elements. This is a tricky job, which calls for careful attention and good skill. It's also dangerous, because some of the metals and other things aren't safe for people to touch or breathe.

By the end of March, 2019, the organizers had hit their targets of getting enough metal for the medals. They had collected around3xkilograms of gold, 4,100 kilograms of silver and 2,200 kilograms of bronze. And now all the 5,000 medals are available for the would-be winners.

1What can we know about the Tokyo Olympics medals?

A.They are hugely valuable.

B.They are of high quality.

C.They are designed uniquely.

D.They are made from e-waste.

2What does Paragraph 4 mainly tell us?

A.The difficulty of making the medals.

B.The process of collecting old electronics.

C.The initiative to recycle used smartphones.

D.The classification of the collected devices.

3The underlined word “tricky”in Paragraph 5 means“ ”.

A.creativeB.well-paid

C.demandingD.time-consuming

4What's the purpose of Tokyo's way of making the medals?

A.To advocate sustainable use of resources.

B.To promote the spirit of Olympic Games.

C.To introduce a new technique to make medals.

D.To call people's attention to environmental damage.
