The Japanese like parties. From ancient times, a party becomes enlivened (活潑) when someone starts singing and others keep applauding.Having such a custom, the Japanese can easily sing in front of others without feeling embarrassed. This seems to be one of the reasons that karaoke has been largely accepted in Japanese society.

It is now widely recognized that the use of karaoke started at a snack bar in Kobe City, one of the three biggest cities in Japan. It is said that when a guitarist could not come to perform at the bar due to illness, the owner of the bar prepared tapes of accompaniment recordings, and people enjoyed singing to the tapes.

It was at that time that karaoke appeared.Holding a microphone and singing a song to the accompaniment of an “orchestra (管弦樂隊(duì))”, you can feel like a professional singer. For soldiers living in a stressful society, there is no other entertainment activity that can make them feel so refreshed.

It is a typical way to relax for Japanese businessmen. They use it to take away their stress after work. However, there is an obstacle to this: since most Japanese houses are still made of wood, it would be very annoying to the neighbors to sing into a microphone at night.Seizing upon the opportunity, businessmen created the karaoke box, a roadside facility containing karaoke equipment.Karaoke boxes are soundproofed rooms, closed with a door, placed on roadsides where people can sing. The first “Karaoke box” was placed in a rice camp in the countryside in 1984.It was built from a converted freight car (改裝的貨運(yùn)車).Now, the karaoke boom has even spread abroad and it has also been attracting the attention of the countries trying to improve their literacy rate (識(shí)字率) as a good educational tool.

根據(jù)文章最后一段最后一句中的“attracting the attention of the countries trying to improve their literacy rate (識(shí)字率) as a good educational tool”可知D項(xiàng)正確。

Dear classmates,

It is a pleasure for I to have a chance to make a short speech today. Recently I had found that some of our classmates study late into the night and do not spare some time to take a rest during the day either. They often cannot help fall asleep in class. And some classmates seldom have breakfast, that is also a bad habit and will surely do harm to our health.

In my opinion, it is extreme important for us to have enough sleep and a proper diet. We must learn to make a use of our time, and only in this way can we keep fit or study well. I wonder if you agree me.

Animal training refers to teaching animals specific responses to specific conditions or stimuli (刺激). Training may be for the purpose of companionship, detection, protection, entertainment or all of the above.

An animal trainer may use various forms of reinforcement (強(qiáng)化) or punishment to condition an animal’s responses. There are many ways to train animals and as a general rule no legal requirements or certifications (證書) are required.

Chickens

Training chickens has become a way for trainers of other animals (primarily dogs) to perfect their training technique. Bob Bailey, former director of Animal Behavior Enterprises and the IQ Zoo, teaches in chicken training courses where trainers teach chickens to tell different shapes, to navigate an obstacle course and to chain behaviors together.

Fish

Fish can also be trained. For example, a goldfish may swim toward its owner and follow him as he walks through the room, but will not follow anyone else. The fish may swim up and down, signaling the owner to turn on its aquarium (魚缸) light when it is off, and it will skim the surface until its owner feeds it. Pet goldfish have also been taught to perform more complicated tasks, such as doing the limbo (a kind of dance) and pushing a miniature soccer ball into a net.

PigS

Among all animals, they are the third cleverest — monkeys, dolphins and pigs. Scientists think the training of pigs is easier than the training of dogs and cats. Pigs have a very good sense of smell. They can find things nearby or faraway. They can also help the police to find out drugs at an airport or at a train station.

A. Most people train animals because they need friends.

B. Training animals requires some certifications.
