The topic of my speech today is “Cooperate with Others”. In this busy and modern world, if we want to complete our work effectively, we all must learn to cooperate with others. If we lose our partners, our lives will not be perfect. Besides, cooperation can save us a lot of time and energy. In addition, we can learn much from our partners by cooperating with them. What’s more, we can share our pleasure and sadness with them.
How can we become a good partner? In my opinion, we should try to listen to others. And if they make mistakes, we also try to point them out and help them to correct the mistakes.

It was a winter morning, just a couple of weeks before Christmas 2005. Trevor, my husband, parked his bike outside the back door as he usually does. After putting in 10 hours of labor, he returned to find his bike gone.
The bike, a black Kona 18 speed, was our only transport. Trevor used it to get to work, putting in 60-hour weeks to support his young family.
I was so sad that someone would steal our bike that I wrote to the newspaper and told them our story. Shortly after that, several people in our area offered to help. One wonderful stranger even bought a bike, then called my husband to pick it up. Once again my husband had a way to get to and from his job. It really is an honor that a complete stranger would go out of their way for someone they have never met before.
People say that a smile can be passed from one person to another, but acts of kindness from strangers are even more so. This experience has had a spreading effect in our lives because it strengthened our faith in humanity（人性）as a whole. No matter how big or how small, an act of kindness shows that someone cares. And the results can be everlasting.

There are many advantages in working part-time while you are in school. Firstly, a part-time job offers you a chance to demonstrate(表現出) your ability and to apply(應用) what you have learned in school. Secondly, a part-time job helps you become more independent of your family. Thirdly, the experience that you gain through part-time job can broaden your school life.
However, a part-time job has some disadvantages. For example, you may lose time needed for sleep, rest, study, club activities, and recreation. Working several hours a day consumes a lot of time and energy and may affect study. As a result, you may find it hard to adjust to what the school expects from you as well as what your employer has the right to expect.
Because of the advantages and disadvantages of a part-time job, you have to strike the balance between school and the job. As a student, acquiring more knowledge, especially more book learning, is your first important task. Although a part-time job can do you a world of good, you should not spend too much time on it.
