“BANG!” the door caused a reverberation(回聲).It was just standing there, with Father standing on one side, and I on the other side.
We were both in great anger.“Never set foot in this house again!” stormed Father. With tears welling up in my eyes, I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street.
The street lights were shining rather desolately(凄涼的).I wandered aimlessly.
A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me.I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space: happy and harmonious.
But now… I don’t know whether it is because I have grown up or because dad is getting old.We differ in our ways of thinking. He always imposes his opinions and codes of behavior on me.Whenever I do something wrong, he never admits it.We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron door between us that can never be opened.
I wandered the streets, without a destination in mind.My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on there were fewer and fewer people on the streets, until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived, I saw that the light was still on.
In fact, it was nothing.Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps.Perhaps he thought they were useless.I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps.I can’t stand his outrageous(蠻橫的) words: “ I can throw you away, let alone these old papers.”
All the lights were off except father’s.
Dad was always like this.Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any mercy or any moments of regret. After an argument he has the habit of creeping up in my sleep and then tucking me underneath the covers.
This was how he always was.He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature.
The light was still on.“Am I wrong?” I whispered, maybe… With the key in hand, I was as nervous as I had ever been.At last, I decided to open the door.As soon as I opened the door, tears ran down my cheeks.I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all.Love is second to none.

The next morning Alex was waiting in the FMA president’s suite when Jerome Patterton arrived. Alex filled him in quickly on the Jax report. Then he said, “I want you to give an order to the trust department to sell every share of Supranational we’re holding.”
“I won’t!” Patterton’s voice rose. “Who do you think you are, giving orders-----“ “I’ll tell you who I am, Jerome. I’m the guy who warned the board against in-depth involvement with SuNatCo. I fought against heavy trust department buying of the stock, but no one-----including you -----would listen. Now Supranational is caving in.” Alex leaned across the desk and slammed a fist down hard. “Don’t you understand? Supranational can bring this bank down with it.”
Patterton was shaken. “But is SuNatCo in real trouble? Are you sure?”
“If I weren’t, do you think I’d be here? I’m giving you a chance to salvage something at least.” He pointed to his wristwatch. “It’s an hour since the New York  stock market opened. Jerome, get on the phone and give that order!”
Muscles around the bank president’s mouth twitched nervously. Never decisive, strong influence often swayed him. He hesitated, then picked up the telephone.
“Get me Mitchell in the trust department… Mitch? This is Jerome. Listen carefully. I want you to give a sell order immediately on all the Supranational stock we hold… Yes, sell every share.” Patterton listened, then said impatiently, “Yes, I know what it’ll do to the market. And I know it’s irregular.” His eyes sought Alex’s for reassurance. The hand holding the telephone trembled as he said, “There’s no time to hold meetings. So do it! Yes, I accept responsibility.”
He hung up and reached for a glass of water. “The stock is already down. Our selling will depress it more. We’ll be taking a big beating.”
“It’s our clients-----people who trusted us-----who will take the beating. And they’d have taken a bigger one still, if we’d waited. Even now we’re not out of the woods. 首先請(qǐng)閱讀下列六種家用電器的介紹:

A. Morphy Richards Coffee Maker

It has a programmable timer, so you can wake up to the smell coffee. The easy-clean filter(過(guò)濾器) and anti-drip device make it simple to maintain(保養(yǎng)).

B. Philips Juicers

It gives you all the juice thanks to its patented micro-mesh filter and powerful 700W motor. The extra-large feeding tube easily takes whole fruits and vegetables.

C. Panasonic Bread Makers

It is perfect for small living spaces. You’ll enjoy wonderful fresh bread at the time you choose. It has a digital 13-hour timer, which is great for cooking a loaf overnight ready for breakfast.

D. KDWTTB10 Compact Dishwasher

Stylishly designed in black, it is as good looking as it functions. It promises to leave your dishes sparklingly clean, again and again!

E. Russell Hobbs Regency Kettle

Its features: a rapid boil 3 KW concealed element for last boiling and easy cleaning; blue illumination when boiling; and double water gauges(測(cè)量?jī)x) for ease of viewing when filling.

F. Hoover Optima 6 kg Washing Machine

It features a unique “teardrop” door design and is user-friendly, which makes laundry days a little easier. Additional features include a countdown digital display.

以下是用戶體驗(yàn),請(qǐng)匹配與之對(duì)應(yīng)的家用電器。

1.It is a great size for a small kitchen. I think its sleek black design is much more stylish than my old machine. You select the temperature setting your requirements and then shut the door and press the start button. It is very handy. It wipes clean easily as well. It also has an effective drying cycle so items are very dry. The anti flood device gives me much more security and the performance has been brilliant.

2.I think it’s amazing. It looks great. It also cleans great. It has more than enough settings for all your wash needs and is extremely quiet during all washing cycle, even on the 1600 spin. With 1600 rpm speed of spin, the clothes are almost dry when they come out! It leaves the contents spotlessly clean. The big door is very handy if you want to wash duvets(羽絨服). I do love this washing machine!

3.You get what you pay for and it’s not expensive. With an otherworldly light, it tells you how long the pot’s been sitting on the warmer. And after an hour, it shuts itself off. In my experience, the biggest problem is that there is no way you can make a full pot of coffee unless you like it incredibly weak.

4.I have not been disappointed with it. The flip-top lid makes it easy to fill. The large transparent “window” makes it easy to see how much you are putting in—so you can choose the number of cups. It looks great, boils quickly and holds plenty of water. The blue light up display when boiling is a fun feature. I think it’s a good kettle and definitely worthy money.

5.All I have to do is put the ingredients into its pan and select my type and the time when I want it finished. If you want to wake up to fresh loaf, you have to work out how many hours it will be between the time you switch it on and the time you want it to be ready. Meanwhile, the recipe that comes with it is very accurate and after three and a half hour you’ll have the most tasteful bread you ever tried.

科目:高中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源:2012-2013學(xué)年山西省高三第二次模擬考試英語(yǔ)試卷(解析版) 題型:閱讀理解

Catherine and I were on our way to our nephew’s birthday party one rainy Saturday morning, driving along what some people call moose(駝鹿) alley. It was early, there were few other cars on the road and we were looking forward to a good day with the family. Suddenly, a moose rushed across our path. Fortunately, a quick swerve(突然轉(zhuǎn)向) to the other lane prevented a full impact, with only a small collision on the right side of our car ripping off the mirror and knocking the moose to the pavement.

By the time I stopped and looked back in my rear view mirror, the moose was getting up. It ran into the bush. Shaken but unharmed, we both looked at each other shocked by what had happened. We knew that moose accidents had claimed many lives throughout the years, and that we had been very fortunate to escape with no personal injury or worse. After a quick check of our vehicle, we drove off.

Even though the moose accident lasted just a few seconds, we still remember it to this day. Why?

We had often talked about the frailty of life, the here today and gone tomorrow potential we all face, but it had never felt so real. And it wasn’t that we hadn’t had friends, relatives and colleagues die before, it was that this experience was much more personal. In a matter of seconds, lives can easily change.

The effect of that one near miss with death has been positive, and made us appreciate life. Each one of us has only a limited time on this Earth; no one can predict when your time will end. We should give thanks for each day, to see the sun rise again, and to know that you can accomplish and assist others to appreciate their life if they are caught in the “poor-me” syndrome(綜合癥狀).

1.What can we learn about the accident form the first two paragraphs?

A.Fortunately, they didn’t hit the moose.

B.They themselves were slightly injured.

C.Many people have died from similar accidents.

D.The author should be blamed for the accident.

2.What did the accident teach the author?

A.Being open to unexpected turns in life is important.

B.Life is long if you know how to use it.

C.Life is measured by thoughts and actions, not by time.

D.Life is unpredictable, so we should treasure every moment.

3.How should we spend every day according to the author?

a. being thankful and helpful

b. appreciating the natural beauty of the world

c. being confident

d. making every effort to succeed

A.a(chǎn)b               B.bc               C.a(chǎn)bc              D.bcd
