閱讀短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問題。(共10分,每小題2分)
Our cities are getting bigger and bigger as more people move from the country to the cities. There are lots of reasons why they do this—mostly it is easy to find work, because all the big companies are in the cities and they need lots of people to work there. When there are lots of people living and working in a city, they need things like restaurants, shops, hospitals and schools. There are more jobs that people need to do. There will be lots of transport in the city to move all the people around. Everything you want will be found in the city: government offices, museums and art galleries, cinemas, big restaurants and parks.
Unfortunately(遺憾地) the city is much busier, more expensive, and more dangerous than the country. The air is not as fresh as in the country because of all the cars and trucks on the roads. There are so many people that are not as friendly——you cannot get to know everyone as you do in the country, and people may get lonely. You do not have much room in the city——most people live in apartments——not houses, and they do not have gardens or lots of space, and because of all the people there is also a lot of noises.
The country is much cheaper to live and there are less dangerous people than you find in cities. Perhaps the best thing is that you can have a big house with a garden and it will be very quiet, but there are not many jobs or services there. There are also not many shops, schools or hospitals. It is hard to get around in the country.
Every person is different, but more and more people are choosing to live in cities because there are so many jobs to do there. What do you think about the city?
【小題1】 Are our cities getting bigger than before?
【小題2】Why do people move to the city?
【小題3】What is the best thing about the country?
【小題4】What is the problem with the country?
【小題5】What does the writer think about cities?

Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.

Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (消除代溝).

Don’t argue (爭(zhēng)辯) with your parents. Don’t get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.

Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.

Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect (尊敬) to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.

Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.

A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!
