The dingo is a kind of Australia's wild dog. No one is certain to tell us where it comes from, but scientists now believe that it is related to Asian and Middle Eastern wolves.  They probably arrived in Australia between 3,500 and 4,000 years ago, and were brought there by Asian sailors. Dingos generally communicate over long distances with howls  (嚎叫) like wolves.

The dingos have short hair. Their color looks a little red, yellow to brown, and seldom to black with white points on the feet and the end of the tail. The dingo has a bushy(濃密) tail, strong paws, an alert (機警) head and upright ears.

Dingos are more active at night, sunrise and sunset than in the middle of the day. This is similar to the animals they hunt and eat. Dingos eat a wide variety of animals, but the most of their diet (more than 50 per cent) comes from kangaroos. A dingo's diet also includes rabbits, rats and mice. Domestic (馴養(yǎng))animals is not an important source of food for dingos----it is said that domestic stock only makes up between 1% and 7% of their diet.

Dingos are social animals, living in family groups, which defend their land and sometimes hunt together. They have a home range (范圍)of up to 8,000 hectares(公頃), but their daily movements take in only a small part of that range. They spend a few days in one place and then move to another, then traveling around their whole range in the end.

People usually control the dingo by trapping, shooting, poisoning(毒) and fencing. The dingo fence (籬笆)which runs through South Australia, along the South Australia and Queens land borders(界), and through central Queens land, is the word's longest fence.

1. According to the passage dingos mainly eat________.

2. The second paragraph is mainly about____.

C. the life of dingos                                 D. the color of dingos

3. Which method is NOT mentioned to control the dingos?

A. Limiting the birth of them                      B. Poisoning.

C.  Shooting.                                 D. Fencing.

4. Which of the following statements about dingos is TRUE?

A. Dingos come from ancient domestic dogs.

B. Dingos are one of the dangerous animals.

C. Dingos come to hunt mainly in the middle of the day.

D. Dingos usually live in groups and hunt together.

5. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?

A. How to control the dingo                  B. The dingos---a dangerous animal
