　　Little Peter is a boy of nine. He began to go to school the year before last and now he's in Grade Three. He lives not far from school, but he's often late for school. He likes watching TV in the evening and goes to bed late, so he can't get up on time in the morning.

　　This term Mrs Black, Peter's aunt, works in Peter's school. She teaches Grade Three maths. She's strict (嚴(yán)格) with Peter and often tells the boy to get up early and come to school on time. Yesterday morning Peter got up late. When he hurried to school it was a quarter past eight. His aunt was waiting for him at the school gate.

Are You an Owl or a Lark?

　　Do you start the day very slowly, and really wake up in the afternoon? Then you may be an owl (貓頭鷹) . Are you full of pep (精力) in the morning and tired out later on? Then you may be a lark (云雀).

　　Owls and larks are different kinds of birds. Scientists use these names for different kinds of people, too. Owls are people who take more time to wake up. They seem to have more pep as the day goes on. Larks are people who are wide awake and busy right away. They may slow down in the afternoon.

　　The way we feel affects the kind of work we do. Larks do better work in the morning. They are more wide awake then. Owls do better work in the afternoon or at night. That can make a difference in a job or at school. Larks would probably do better on school tests first thing in the morning. Owls would do better later in the day.

  Long ago，in a small village of Wakefield lived two farmers，Harry and Peter．Harry was very hard．working while Peter was  36  ．Every day Harry got up early and came home late，but Peter walked around for fun．
