There is little doubt that whether it is human activity rather than natural phenomena that have caused global warming. It is largely due to the burning of the fossile fuels ranged from gas to oil. And almost all scientists subscribe to a view above. Besides, their attitudes towards this rise are absolute different. On one hand, some think if there is not such a rise, plants would not grow quicker and crops would not produce more. On the other hand, those opposed to the view thought that it is very serious. In their opinion, any trend in that the temperature increases by 5 degrees will lead to a catastrophe. In spite of this, that doesn’t mean we can do nothing . With our natural resources running out, we should do what we can protect our earth!

have 改成has

ranged 改成ranging

a改成the

Besides 改成 However

absolute 改成 absolutely

is 改成were

thought改成think

that改成which

can后加to

去掉whether

There is no/little doubt that…,為固定句式,意為“…..

2.have 改成has

分析句子natural phenomena that have caused global warming可知這是定語從句,natural phenomena 是先行詞,在后面的定語從句中作主語,所以用關(guān)系詞that引導(dǎo)從句,關(guān)系詞應(yīng)該與先行詞是一致的,而 natural phenomena是單數(shù),所以謂語動(dòng)詞要用單數(shù)形式,故把have改為 has.

4.a改成the

However

7.is 改成were

根據(jù)下句“plants would not grow quicker and crops would not produce more.”是與現(xiàn)在事實(shí)相反,所以if 從句要用一般過去時(shí),故把is 改成were。

9.that改成which

分析句子any trend in that the temperature increases by 5 degrees will lead to a catastrophe.可知,any trend是先行詞,在從句中作介詞 in 的賓語,trend是物,所以可以用關(guān)系詞that which,但如果把介詞in提到關(guān)系詞前,只能用which,不能用that 。

An environmental group called the FoodCommission is unhappy and disappointed because of the sales of bottled waterfrom Japan. The water, it angrily argues in public, has traveled 10,000 “foodmiles” before it reached Western customers. Transporting water halfway acrossthe world is surely the extremely stupid use of fuel when there is plenty ofwater in the UK. It is also worrying that we were wasting our fuel by buyingprawns from Indonesia (7,000 food miles ) and carrots from South Africa (5,900food miles).
Counting the number of miles traveleddone by a product is a strange way of trying to tell the true situation of theenvironmental damage due to industry. Most food is transported around the worldon container ships that are extremely energy efficient. It should be noticedthat a ton of butter transported 25 miles in a truck to a farmers’ marketdoesn’t necessarily use less fuel on its journey than a similar producttransported hundreds of miles by sea. Besides, the idea of “food miles” ignoresthe amount of fuel used in the production. It is possible to cut down your foodmiles by buying tomatoes grown in Britain rather than those grown in Ghana. Thedifference is that the British ones will have been raised in heated greenhouseand the Ghanaian ones in the open sun.
What is the idea of “food miles” doesprovide, however, is the chance to cut out Third World countries from FirstWorld food markets. The number of miles traveled by our food should, as I seeit, be regarded as a sign of the success of the global trade system, not a signof damage to the environment.
(1)The Food Commission is angry because it thinks that ________.
A.UK wastes a lot of money importing food products
B.some imported goods causes environmental damage
C.growing certain vegetables causes environmental damage
D.people wasted energy buying food from other countries

A.that a food product travels to a market
B.that a food product travels from one market to another
C.between UK and other food producing countries
D.between a Third World country and a First World food market
(3)By comparing tomatoes raised in Britain and in Ghana, the author tries to explain that ________.
A.British tomatoes are healthier than Ghanaian ones
B.Ghanaian tomatoes taste better than tomatoes ones
C.cutting down food miles may not necessarily save fuel
D.protecting the environment may cost a lot of money
(4)From the passage we know that the author is most probably ________.
A.a supporter of free global trade
B.a member of a Food Commission
C.a supporter of First World food markets
D.a member of an energy development group
