My friend Lucy gave me a ticket for an excited film which I want to see it very much. However, I will have to take an examination tomorrow. I believe that only when you do that you should do can you make progresses in life. In my opinion, it is waste of time going to see the film right now. That’s why I decided to give up seeing the film with him and working hard at my lessons. Lucy felt this a great pity that I couldn’t see the film with her. To make her happily, I said, “Why not going to see the film the day after tomorrow instead of today?”
1. an excited film … excited---- exciting
2. want to see it… 去掉it
3. that you should do… that ---- what
4. make progresses … progresses ---- progress
5. waste of time… waste前加a
6. with him… him---- her
7. working hard at … working---- work
8. his a great pity … this ---- it
9…make her happily … happily ---- happy
10. Why not going to … going ---- go
1.excited---- exciting.
2. 去掉it. 故去掉it.
3. that ---- what. 此處做do的賓語,指做應(yīng)該做的事,有實(shí)際意義要用what引導(dǎo)賓語從句,故that ---- what.
4. progresses ---- progress.
5. waste前加a. 的浪費(fèi)”用a waste of…,此處指時(shí)間的浪費(fèi),故waste前加a.
6. him---- her. 故him---- her.
7. working---- work. 句中and連接并列的give up和work,decided to+動(dòng)詞原形,故working---- work.
8. this ---- it. 句中謂語是felt,后加形式賓語it,a great pity是賓補(bǔ),that從句是真正的賓語。 故this ---- it.
9. happily ---- happy.
10. going ---- go. 此處是Why not+ 動(dòng)詞原形,表示“為什么不…?”,故going ---- go.

My Stay in New York
After graduation from university, I had been unable to secure a permanent job in my small town. So I decided to leave home for New York,I might have a better chance to find a good job. Over time, the high cost of living became a little burden on my already (exhaust) shoulder. On the other hand, my search for a respectable job had not met with much success. As I had studied literature at university, I found it quite difficult to secure a suitable job in big companies. Mother had just said that I want to have a better career advancement, I had to find work in the city. Perhaps my mother had told me was deeply rooted in my mind. I just did as she had expected.
Soon I had lived in the city for over six months but I still did not like it. Apparently, I had difficulty (adapt) myself to life in the city, let alone finding a job to my delight. After nine months of frustration, I eventually decided to go back to my small town. Not until I returned I realize that a quiet town life was the best for me.

What qualities do you think heroes should have? To me, heroes are brave and helpful. They’re people you respect of. My heroes are the volunteers who go to the earthquake-hit areas last week. The disaster caused great damages to the areas. Therefore, the volunteers’ efforts relieved the victims’ suffering. They helped the victims by giving themselves food, water and shelter. They were also many doctors and nurses who volunteered help the wounded. The rescue work turned out dangerously, but no one showed fear nor gave up rescue the unfortunate people. I think nothing is equal to which the brave people did in the earthquake.
