Dress to impress:  Stylist and business consultant Daniela Smith says, “Girls should keep in mind that your college professors will often be the bridge that connects you to your future career and our classmates will become your professional network. Smith points out that leggings, yoga pants, and sweatpants are entirely unacceptable in public unless you’re exercising.  Although leggings worn as pants are a common trend among high school and college girls,  they are not an appropriate choice for daywear.  As a young woman,  your style choice should begin to reflect your maturity level.  So,  get rid of leggings and wear real pants!

Keep the cute factor to a minimum:  Stay away from sweaters and T-shirts with smiling animals, cartoon characters, or Hello Kitty on them. Sure, kittens might be cute, but they’re not doing you any favors in the style department. Dressing too cutesy can take years off your look, and not necessarily in a good way!

Start small, and then focus on items that are a bit more involved or difficult and just keep going!
When carrying out a change, it’s great if you’re able to bounce ideas off other people, particularly if they can help you implement that change in some way. Be receptive to feedback, but realize that others’ opinions are not golden. Also remember to give feedback when asked for it. Be sure it's genuine and that you are able to stand behind it.
Create an environment for change. There is nothing more discouraging than trying to create change in an environment that is not conducive to it. It’s like trying to stick to a diet in a house that is filled with chips, cookies, ice cream and chocolate; you are just making it more difficult for yourself.
Change is good, and often leads to process improvement, increased productivity and efficiency. Take the initiative, and make changes to your life to get to where you want to go faster than you are going right now.

The passport photographs of the future could turn out to be more than just another pretty picture if a new computer technique developed by Israeli scientists catches on.

Researchers at Ben-Gurion University, in Israel, have invented a way to hide information such as a fingerprint or signature in color images. They believe this could improve passport safety or be used to produce product bar codes(條形碼) or designs that cannot be seen.

“The papers can be faxed, scanned(掃描) and reprinted without hidden data disappearing,” New Scientist magazine said last week.

Joseph Rosen and a team of scientists worked out the new instrument by creating a mathematical model.

The model turns a fingerprint or signature into a series of numbers which are used to shape the dots that make up a color picture.

“Each dot can be forced out of the usual place slightly without noticeably changing the final appearance of the image,” the magazine said.

Several images that can be hidden in a single picture are scanned into a computer which does the work.

The hidden images or fingerprints cannot be shown until the picture is scanned again.

The computer rebuilds the fingerprint by measuring the displacement of the dots in the picture.

The magazine said that if he model is used for passport checkpoints the picture can be unscrambled(解碼) to show the fingerprint or signature and checked against the person holding the passport.

The researchers are now working on a handheld, and instrument which could make unscrambling the hidden information easier.
