Directions: Translate the following sentences into English, using the words given in the brackets.

(return)

(Not)

(where)

1Have you achieved the efforts you made to realize your little annual goal?

2We act from love and expect nothing in return.

3Not everyone is aware of the employment pressure of college graduates.

4It is said that hot springs have curative effects, so they have become a tourist bathing place where people flock.

Have you achieved the efforts you made to realize your little annual goal?

We act from love and expect nothing in return.

根據(jù)提示,本句為一般現(xiàn)在時;“并非人人”not everyone(是三單),“知道”be aware of , “就業(yè)壓力”pressure of employment,再結(jié)合其它漢語提示,故本句譯為:Not everyone is aware of the employment pressure of college graduates.

根據(jù)提示,本句為一般現(xiàn)在時;“據(jù)說”it is said that…,“溫泉”hot spring,“有效”have effects,“蜂擁而至”flock,“旅游洗浴的地方”做先行詞,從句中缺少地點狀語用where引導(dǎo)定語從句,再結(jié)合其它漢語提示,故本句譯為:It is said that hot springs have curative effects, so they have become a tourist bathing place where people flock.

Benjamin West, the father of American painting, showed his talent for art when he was only six years of age. But he did not know about brushes before 1 visitor told him he needed one. The brush did not last long. Soon Benjamin needed more fur. Before long, the cat began to look ragged(蓬亂). His father said that the cat 3 be sick. Benjamin 4 (force) to admit what he had been doing.

The cat’s lot was about to improve. That year, one of Benjamin’s cousins, Mr. Pennington, came to visit. He was impressed with Benjamin’s drawings. 5 he went home, he sent Benjamin a box for paint and some brushes. He also sent six engravings(版畫)by an artist. 6 were the first pictures and first real paint and brushes Benjamin had even seen. In 1747, when Benjamin was nine years old, Mr. Pennington returned for another visit. He was amazed at 7 Benjamin had done with his gift. He asked Benjamin’s parents 8 he might take the boy to Philadelphia for a visit.

In the city, Mr. Pennington gave Benjamin materials for creating oil paintings. The boy began a landscape painting. William Williams, a well-known painter, came to see him work. Williams was impressed with Benjamin and gave him two classic books on painting to take home. The books were long and dull. Benjamin could read only a little, 9 (be) a poor student. But he later said, “Those two books were my companions by day, and 10 my pillow at night.” While it is likely that he understood very little of the books, they were his introduction to classical paintings. The nine-year-old boy decided then that he would be an artist.

I don’t think this wise that the school requires us to have some extra classes on weekends. In our view, we should be allowed more time of our own. It might be true that adding some extra classes would be of some helpful to a few passive students. However, we cannot always expect rely on someone else to decide for us which is necessary for our success. Besides, the place that we are weak varies great from person to person. What our teachers do in the class can rarely meet the needs of individual students. Thus, if we can have more free times, we can focus on our weaknesses and balanced our energy on different subjects.
