故把were改為are。

短語(yǔ)as a matter of fact實(shí)際上;句意:實(shí)際上有很多處理精神問(wèn)題的方法。

名詞attitude通常和介詞to/towards連用,構(gòu)成短語(yǔ)“the attitude to/towards…”

1 we know, there are three medalists in Olympic races: the gold, the silver, and the bronze (銅牌).

Imagine what it’s like to be the silver medalist. If you 2 (be) just one second faster, you could have won the gold! So close! You would keep comparing yourself to be the gold winner, full 3 envy.

Now imagine what it’s like to be the bronze medalist. One second 4 (slow), and you wouldn’t have won anything! Whoo-hoo! You would be thrilled that you were 5 (official) an Olympic medalist, and got to stand on the winner’s podium at all.

You can 6 compare up or compare down and your 7 (happy) depends on where you’re focusing. This is easy to understand, but hard to remember in everyday life. If you catch yourself 8 (bum) with envy of anger, think like the bronze medalist, not the silver. Change your focus.

For example, if you buy something that is “the best”, you may feel like a gold winner, but when the new “best” 9 (come) out next year, you’ll feel like the siver. Instead, if you look at what you buy as something “surprisingly good”, it will keep you in the bronze mindset. Since you’re not comparing it to best, you’ll feel no need 10 (keep) up with the newest thing.

Palema Malhotra and her husband Anil Malhotra have spent the last 25 years buying the waste agricultural land and reforesting it, to return the land to a bio – diverse rainforest for elephants, birds and other creatures.

The couple owns 300 acres of land in Brahmagiri, India. They have spotted more than 300 kinds of birds as well as many rare and threatened animal species. But, this was not the scene in 1991 when Anil and Pamela came to this part of the country. “When I came here, it was a wasteland. The owner wanted to sell because he couldn’t grow coffee or anything else,” says Anil who worked in the real estate(房地產(chǎn))and restaurant business in the US before moving to India. “For me and Pamela, this was what we were looking for all our life.”

The couple had a love for nature from their childhood. When the Malhotras came to India, the pollution horrified them. “That was when we decided to do something to reclaim(開墾)the forest in India,” says Anil. “We were not looking for money. Early on, we realized that shortage of fresh water will be a concern for India and the rest of the world. Acquisition, protection and reclamation of forested lands and wildlife habitat, where vital water sources have their origin, is the only way to save ourselves,” explains Anil.

They sold what they owned in America, bought the first 55 acres and began to grow a forest. Soon they bought the land nearby as well. “Many of the farmers considered their holdings ‘wasteland’ as very little grew on it and were happy to get money,” says Anil.

Hunting and poaching(偷獵)was a challenge and often the locals did not understand what this couple was doing, so it required a lot of talking to create awareness. They worked with the forest department to set up camera traps and keep poachers away. “There are times I have fought with poachers,” says Pamela.

When you get the test, don’t forget to put your name on it. Then, take a quick look at each page. A long test may have different sections. Notice how many marks each section is worth. Like a runner, you will want to be careful about your pace. 2, you will want to leave yourself enough time for the sections that are worth the most marks.

3. Read the instructions and questions very carefully. Make sure you understand what you are being asked to do. If you do not understand a question, ask your instructor. If you feel nervous, you may want to build your confidence by starting with the questions that arc easiest for you.

During a reading test, it can help to do a quick pre-reading exercise you have been taught, even if it is not part of the instructions. For example, try scanning the text to figure out the topic before you rend the whole thing more carefully. Then think about what you already know about the topic. Predict the details that might be in the reading. For a writing test, pre-writing is a very important first step, Brainstorm your ideas and organize them before you start writing. 4.

Before you hand in your test, review your answers. Check your grammar and spelling. Make sure your instructor will be able to read your handwriting. 5.
