家教 tutor

【答案】This summer holiday we did a survey among 500 parents on whether tutors are necessary. 80% of the parents surveyed think that tutors are completely necessary because they can not only help their children solve difficulties in their study timely but also know their children’s weak points more clearly through one-to-one tutoring. However, 20% of the parents who hold a different view think that private tutoring takes up so much of their children’s spare time that they can hardly find enough time for rest. What’s more, children depend more on their tutors, naturally having a side effect on their future development.
In my view, the disadvantages of having tutors outweigh its advantages because private tutoring will, in one way, limit children’s self-study ability and influence their regular classroom learning.

【題目】閱讀下面短文,從每題所給的四個(gè)選項(xiàng)(A、B、C和D)中,選出最佳選項(xiàng)。
A
I was never very neat, while my roommate Kate was extremely organized. Each of her objects had its place, but mine always hid somewhere. She even labeled (貼標(biāo)簽 ) everything. I always, looked for everything. Over time, Kate got neater and I got messier. She would push my dirty clothing over, and I would lay my books on her tidy desk. We both got tired of each other.
War broke out one evening. Kate came into the room. Soon, I heard her screaming, "Take your shoes away! Why under my bed!" Deafened, I saw my shoes flying at me. I jumped to my feet and started yelling. She yelled back louder.
The room was filled with anger. We could not have stayed together for a single minute but for a phone call. Kate answered it. From her end of the conversation, I could tell right away her grandma was seriously ill. When she hung up, she quickly crawled (爬 ) under her covers, weeping.
Obviously, that was something she should not go through phone. All of a sudden, a warm feeling of sympathy rose up in my heart,
Slowly, I collected the pencils, took back the books, made my bed, cleaned the socks and swept the floor, even on her side. I got so into my work that I even didn't noticed Kate had sat up.
She was watching, her tears dried and her expression one of disbelief. Then, she reached out her hands to grasp mine. I looked up into her eyes. She smiled at me. "Thanks."
Kate and I stayed roommates for the rest of the year. We didn't always agree, but we learned the key to living together: giving in, cleaning up and holding on.
(1)What made Kate angry one evening?
A.She couldn't find her books.
B.She heard the author shouting loud.
C.She got the news that her grandma was ill.
D.She saw the author's shoes beneath her bed.
(2)The author tidied up the room most probably because_______.
A.she was scared by Kate's anger
B.she hated herself for being so messy
C.she wanted to show her care
D.she was asked by Kate to do so
(3)What might be the best title for the story?

【題目】People always feel headache about academic writing.Jennifer Ahern-Dodson provides some suggestions with some students and teachers. She asks about their earlier writing experiences. Were they negative or positive? She advises that you are not alone if you have had problems with your writing. She says everyone struggles with writing.

“Writing is hard. All writers struggle at some point. And even if writing has come easily for you,at some point in your work as a student, that eventually you’re going to hit a roadblock. So it’s really important to take a moment to think about their past writing experiences. And when the writing was going well, what was happening? When the writing wasn’t going well, what was happening?”

She says most people’s negative writing experiences happened because a very specific formula is required for a paper including an exact length.”And so they primarily focus on,and worry about, what the final product has to look like, like how many pages for a research essay?Or if it is in the second or third language, you know, punctuation and grammar, like whether it gets communicated in the right language.

Another problem can arise when the need to do well on a paper is extremely important.“...like a timed essay exam,or a college application essay,or a research paper that is at the end of the semester, and it’s tied to the entire grade for the class. So worrying about what will happen if they don’t do well–get bad grades, don’t get into college–creates,of course, significant anxiety. And that can make it harder to get the writing done.”

Then she and the people she’s helping move to more positive projects. She says usually when writing comes easily, the writers feel they have something important to say.The teacher advises thinking about who your audience is,and what it is that you really want to say to them.

A. It is made up of past experiences. B. It has positive effects.

When we think about the dreams we have, it is surprising to see how many people failed even if they could have succeeded. So today I'm going to tell you five ways to kill your dreams.
Believe in overnight success.
Everyone knows the story of a tech guy who built a mobile app and sold it for a lot of money. If you investigate further, you will find that he is well educated and has been working on the project for 20 years. Therefore, your overnight success is always a result of what you've done in your life.

Constantly, people around you always have opinions on which path you should take. But whichever way you choose, there are other ways you have to pick as well. And one day you need to solve those problems yourself.
Decide to rest when success is guaranteed.
When your life is going great and everything is set— time to rest. Actually, when you're growing towards a peak, you need to work even harder and find yourself another peak. If you were content with what you've accomplished, it would stop you from a greater success.

Believe the fault is someone else's.
I constantly see people saying, “I created this great product, but the market is so bad.” If you have dreams, it's your responsibility to make them happen. Yes, the market may be bad. But if no one bought your product, surely there is something there that is your fault.

Believe that the only things that matter are the dreams themselves.
Achieving a dream is a short moment, but your life is not. And the only way to really achieve all of your dreams is to fully enjoy every step of your journey.
A. When we face difficulties, believe in ourselves.
B. The overnight success inspires so many people.
C. The story may seem real, but I bet it's incomplete.
D. Be responsible for your own dreams.
E. Life is never about the goals themselves.
F. There's no time to settle down.
G. Believe someone else has the answers for you.
