There are many people who help me a lot, among whom are my English teacher, Miss Zhao. I still remember being asked a question in his class, but I fail to answer it. I was very embarrassed that I burst into tear. She didn’t blame for me. Instead, she encouraged me with a smile, saying best way to face failure was to keep try and that no success could be achieved without failure. That she said struck me deep at that time, which made me study much harder than before. Now, as a senior three student, I make it my motto: Never give up, and you’ll succeed in time.

【答案】1.are→is

2.his→her

3.fail→failed

4.very→so

5.tear→tears

6.去掉for

7.saying后面加上the

8.try→trying

9.That→What

10.deep→deeply

故That改為What

【題目】 Some people think going to the gym takes time and effort, it often hurts, and it can be extremely boring. Most weight-related exercises are a combination of sets and reps(幾次幾組).In order to see any significant change from any one exercise,it will probably need to be repeated six to eight times, for a minimum of three sets, for about three months: Then there' s aerobics(有氧運(yùn)動(dòng)).For some, there's nothing more boring than endless miles spent running on a treadmill(跑步機(jī)).

But what if there is a way to reduce the boredom of exercise while still getting a good workout? Luckily for us, there’s virtual reality (VR).

“In the past, playing video games was a sedentary(久坐不動(dòng)的) experience:,"says Jo Stauffer of the VR Heaitn-institute, but VR changes all of that.” Many, VR games are played while standing In order to play properly, the players are forced to move around swinging their arms or using their legs. After an hour of this on a regular enough basis, it's not surprising, that many people unexpectedly find themselves a little fitter .There are already a number of virtual reality games which, deliberately or not, result in their player “getting a good sweat on” if played for enough time. For example, there's a music game which forces players to shadow box(做空拳攻防練習(xí)) in order to hit the notes---that's an upper-body workout.

The benefit of VR has been noticed by one company. They want to take the whole experience into the gym. They are making a resistance machine, designed to be used in combination with a VR headset. Players challenge a virtual competitor in a series of games, which results in a 30-minute full-body workout. However, the cost of the equipment is expensive and there are safety concerns to be worked out, says J.P.Gownder from the consultancy Forrester.

Although it's early days, for those: of us who struggle to overcome the boredom of exercise,a new solution could be coming. And a world where a person can exercise and have fun at the same time might be something that many people would want-virtual or not.So don' t give up exercising.

1What conclusion can we draw from the first paragraph?

A.Most weight-related exercises nearly have no effect.

B.Some people think exercising in the gym is difficult and tiring.

C.Running on a treadmill wont bring significant change.

B.There are some disadvantages of it.

C.J.P. Gownder highly recommends it.

If there is one word to describe the progress made in the last 100 years, it’s connectedness. From the telephone to the radio to the TV to the Internet, we have found ways to bring us all closer together, enabling, constant worldly access..

I don’t think I need to highlight the benefits of all this. But the downsides are also beginning to show. Beyond the current talk about privacy and data collection, there is perhaps an even more detrimental side-effect here: We now live in a world where we’re connected to everything except ourselves. According to Pascal, we fear

the silence of existence, and we dread boredom and instead choose aimless distraction and use the noise of the world to block out the discomfort of dealing with ourselves.

However, we ignore the fact that never facing ourselves is why we feel lonely an anxious in spite of being

so intimately connected to everything else around us.

Fortunately, there is a solution. The only way to avoid being ruined by this is to face it. It’s to let the boredom take you where it wants so you can deal with whatever it is that is really going on with your sense of self. That’s when you’ll hear yourself think, and learn to engage the parts of you that are masked by distraction.

The beauty of this is that, once you cross that initial barrier, you realize that being alone isn’t so bad. Boredom can provide its own stimulation.

When you surround yourself with moments of solitude and stillness, you become intimately familiar with your environment in a way that forced stimulation doesn’t allow. The world becomes richer, the layers start to peel back, and you see things for what they really are, in all their wholeness, in all their contradictions, and in all their unfamiliarity.

You learn that there are things you are capable of paying attention to than just what makes the most noise on the surface. Just because a quiet room doesnt scream with excitement like the idea of immersing yourself in a movie or a TV show doesn’t mean there isn’t depth to explore there.

Sometimes, the direction that this solitude leads you in can be unpleasant, especially when it comes to introspection (內(nèi)省)---your thoughts and your feelings, your doubts and your hopes—but in the long term, it’s far more pleasant than running away from it all without even realizing what you are.

Being alone and connecting inwardly is a skill nobody ever teaches us. That’s ironic because its more important than most of the ones they do.

Solitude may not be the solution to everything, but it certainly is a start.

【題目】 Digital technologyemail and smart phones especiallyhave vastly improved workers' ability to be productive outside of a traditional office. Even so, most white-collar work still happens in an office. One reason is that, according to findings of a new survey of office workers conducted by Wakefield Research for the IT company Citrix, most bosses are doubtful about remote working. Half of the workers say their boss doesn't accept it, and only 35 percent say it's tolerated.

Skeptical bosses will likely have their doubts reinforced by the same survey, which shows that 43 percent of workers say they've watched TV or a movie while “working” remotely, while 35 percent have done housework, and 28 percent have cooked dinner.

It is true, however, that working at home makes people much more efficient, because it allows workers to take care of annoying housework while still getting their jobs done. It's much faster, for example, to shop for groceries at a quarter to three than to stand in line during the after-work rush.

The fact that such practices remain officially unaccepted reflects how far we haven't come as a society from the days when we expected every full-time worker to be supported by a full-time homemaker.

More broadly the Wakefield survey suggests that employers may be missing a low-cost way to give workers something of value. Sixty-four percent of those survey participants who haven't worked remotely would rather give up some bonus in order to get even one day a week working from home. Under such circumstances, smart firms need to find ways to let their employees have enough flexibility to manage their time efficiently.

1What does digital technology contribute to?

A.Promoting productionB.Hiring more white-collar workers

C.Conducting a new researchD.Removing bosses' doubt

2What seems to be most workers' attitude toward remote working?

A.Doubtful.B.Favorable.

C.Reserved.D.Disapproving.

3What does the author suggest smart firms do?

A.Shorten their office hours.B.Give employees a pay raise.

C.Adopt flexible work patterns.D.Reduce their staff’s workload.
